My plans are to drive straight through to Airlie Beach for the weekend and catch up with some mates, Monday in Cardwell then meet up with you guys in Cairns on Tuesday....

I just spoke to Lions Den Hotel and Mason's Store at Cape Tribulation.

CREB is definitely not opening any time soon.

The guy at Lions Den said Bloomfield is open and travellers are reporting other than the track being quite wet still, it is no problem getting through and the weather seems to be clearing up.

BUT.... the lady at Mason's said the Bloomfield was extremely wet and treacherous and it is not recommended to take that route.
She also said 2 bulldozers got bogged there near a crossing yesterday and have chewed up the track really bad.

What to do, what to do.....

Day one down, stopped at tannum sands for the night. Tonnes of roadwork today but should get better tomorrow.

Sorry I couldn't make it guys. Tannum sands is where I used to live, Pacific avenue to be accurate was walking distance to the pub which has great views of the water. I'm with you in spirit. I should post up a picture of the Prado all loaded up before I unpack. Cheers

Stopped at rolling stone Big 4 just north of Townsville. Didn't think the parks could get any better but this one is pretty good. Met up with Shannon here too. 3 more days till we leave the bitumen!

Well we are about to hit the road in a couple of hours, heading for Cape Trib then Bloomfield track to Lions Den for 2 nights.

This is a quick iPhone pano I did at Blacks Beach a few days ago.
Gotta keep remembering to pull out the camera!!
