Pretty good trip so far really. AJ was right, canal creek is definitely nicer campsite than Elliot Falls. Dad and I ducked out at the last bypass track before Nolans. The other 4 did it. They all had to get pulled through though, no one was driving it. Luckily the last guy in the group before them started ours off. Just in the first day here at loyalty we came across 6 different groups talking about cars being drowned there. There's apparently I bit of a hole that stops everyone and the ones who aren't prepared with their recovery gear are the ones losing their cars. A couple of young kids in hilux's lost 2 there from their group.
Other than that, not a lot of issues. One car lost some bolts from the exhaust manifold (easily replaced with spares) and had a fridge move coming out of gunshot and smash out the side cargo area window. All taped up and good to go now though. Dad's new compressor wouldn't turn off one night after blowing out the air filter so we had to pull the fuse on it. Put it back in the next morning though and it's been fine ever since. I've got a few new bends in the factory side steps (good excuse to upgrade) and I had to clean the terminals on the winch to get it going again (could have been avoided if I checked it before I came though).
Other than that, it's been a cracker of a trip so far and so worth it when you sit at the bar and watch the sunset
