Can Tiny and Shannon please pay deposits to secure your bookings.

Also confirming, JPM you are not staying at the Resort in Cairns?
    Hey Dan,

I already called them and gave them credit card details. They said they'd send me a receipt though now you mention it I don't think I got a receipt and don't remember seeing the charge on my credit card. I'll give them another call.

        Good stuff JPM.

Yeah Tiny, I am guessing the card wasn't processed as they had no record of the transaction when I spoke to them.

Have ordered a Aurora 30" lightbar today, been umming and ahhing for a while and finally bit the bullet.

Just hope it turns up in time for me to get it fitted up for the trip.

p.s. Craig, before you ask why not the 40", I just want to fry the possums eyeballs, not cook the whole animal!!

            Hey Dan,

Just had another look and I do have the receipt and booking confirmation from them. Not sure what's going on there. I'll call them back today if I get a chance.

              Hi Guys,

For those that are interested, I started doing up a bit of a plan covering how far we're planning to drive each day, where there's toilets, showers laundry facilities and fuel as well as a basic outline of the meals I'm planning. The meals bit won't interest many but the other stuff might be of interest.

If it doesn't come out well, PM me and I can send you a pdf or a excel version.

Most days aren't too bad. The worst is Lion's Den to Archer River Roadhouse. Around 500k's, 130 of it on battlecamp road which could be slow going. Worst case scenario, we pull up early if we're tired. Coen is only 434 k's or we can stop even earlier if we need to. I'd like to get the Archer though to try their burger which is supposed to be pretty good.

The other long days are Loyalty beach back to Weipa - 408 k's all on development roads, and Weipa back to Musgrave Roadhouse 371 k's but with a day off in between exploring Weipa, I don't see any of it being overly taxing. Keep in mind though that these are just plans. A decent storm comes along and we can throw most of these plans out the window so we'll have to stay flexible.

I hope everyone is nearly finished their prep work by now. The countdown app on my iPad says 30 days, 13 hours 23 minutes till we leave Cairns. Not long now!

Thanks for the campground details Tiny. That's good stuff to know.

With regards to meals, I've got most of mine from here. They're not exactly cheap, but they are pretty tasty and don't need to be refrigerated.

Nine more work days, and 19 days until I set off.

                Dane.

Yeah, I'm told they're pretty tasty. Pricey to feed the entire family though.

Sorry for the late reply but I have been working out Broken Hill with no service
I thought I had confirmed my booking at Cairns but upon looking up my statements I havnt been charged so I'll be sure to contact them, thanks for the notice cause I wouldn't have known otherwise!!
Wow them meals look great but could be a bit pricey for me with the tribe as well so I think I'll be testin my old camp cookin skills again
Car is all but ready with just a couple of things to get sorted before departure

                      • If it's any help last week I drove from Cairns to Pompuraw...........it's bitumen all the way to Laura now, from Laura to Musgrave there are road works happening but the road is in very good condition.......Musgrave has good camping with a good toilet/shower facility for $10 a night and the meals were great......Diesel at Musgrave was $174.5 per litre which is good imo..........We turned off and went to Pompy from there where the road has a few decent washouts but all in all was fine.

Thanks Dan, I'm kind of counting on the roads being good there. I think we'll be ok. And yes Brains, I've seen your pic and that is the driving force to make it to archer.

                          • That's a nice little spreadsheet you have there Tiny. I haven't planned actual meals yet but lucky for me I only need to plan for one.

Certainly looking forward to that Archer Burger, worth pushing on if we are close!!

My new lightbar should help if we are running into the night!!
