Re: TRIP REPORT :MUD MISSION 7 HILLS

What a trip!! one that you wont forget in a while i am sure!

Well done to all concerned for being able to help the rider. Having the wherewith-all to be able to 1) tell the ambos etc exactly where you were 2) render basic first aid and keep the guy comfortable until the help arrived is no small feat.

Quite an adventure you guys had...

It's given me motivation to get my first aid certificate re-newed... it's well out of date.

Looks like that bike is (was  ) new ... hope it wasn't someones xmas present....

      Was he at least insured?

Looks like a top day out... apart from the bike incident. Top effort getting him help and out safely.

Re: TRIP REPORT :MUD MISSION 7 HILLS - Motorcycle Rider update

I spoke to the motorcycle rider today, he suffered a broken arm and cuts/bruises. He believes his bike is a write-off. Lucky it was a relatively low speed speed crash.

Re: TRIP REPORT :MUD MISSION 7 HILLS

Good trip report. Looks like a top spot. and nicely set up cars..

Unfortunate to add an accident report. Could have been a lot worse tho, so glad everything ended up relatively well for all.

Good to see us PPers are a helpfull bunch, good to see a first aid kit but unluckily for him there would have been no painkillers in there.
On another note, Is that all the protection he was wearing?
I'm a motorcyclists and I allways shake my head at the lack of adequate gear other riders use.
                  Especialy scooter riders.
I know that in this accident I doubt the injuries would have been less because the lack of sliding but sneakers and t shirt !!!! come on.
I also ride a Kawasaki, so its sad to see...

Good work. But you could have got him to wave...... ( just joking).. I bet he wasnt that impressed to be there.

Have you told him about this site???

                    Hey Guys,

Sorry I'm a bit late getting my pics up until now...

Yes it was an awesome drive until the motorbike took on James steel bar. It's a terrible feeling walking up to an accident and not knowing what condition the person(s) will be in. I think everyone did a stella job in getting things organised and I'm glad we're all part of a group that we can rely on if one of us were in a similar situation.

I have a heap of photos and video (Thanks to my folks up on holidays from Vic), so I've attached 40 odd for now and will try to get some video up at some stage.

Start of our drive, it's nice to be greeted with mud and water straight up

Sorry for getting lazy with the captions but if I get time during the week I'll add some in.

Thanks again boys for a top day out (other than the other events)

                    Cheers,

                          Jeff.
After seeing an earlier picture of the bike lying on its side in front of the car and now one of the rider I would have to say he not a "hardcore" trail rider. Up until about 2 years ago I used to race enduros etc and when trail riding ie social riding, I would still wear motorcross boots, body armour, knee gaurds, riding pants and jersey etc. Also looking at this guy's tyres they are road orientated about 70% to 30% dirt. Still he is a very lucky boy.

Great pics everyone has posted. Looks like a top class day (except the bike bit). Also great to see everyone prepared for all situations.

Bloody hell boys, looks like a little too much excitment. It seems that there are a number of dirt bikers who have a death wish, when you consider what we encountered on our last trip up the CREB and your cruise along Black Mountain Rd. Strangely I was giving my young bloke a bit of gravel driving experience there the day before you guys had your mishap. When accidents like that happen it is always good to have a few people around to help out. It is always much harder if you are on your own.
Will hopefully catch up next trip.

                            Cheers

Took the rig to the smash repairs today, looks like I need the following

                              1) new bar (hopefully I can salvage the old bash plates and fog lights as spares)
                              2) new bonnet
                              3) new bonnet release mechanism (there's only a small plastic tube which connects the release arm to the bonnet which broke)
                              4) new windscreen (although it didn't even crack during the crash, apparently they need to smash it out to repair the dents on the roof.
                              5) new grill

And that's about it apart from a wheel alignment which I'm getting done tomorrow morning. I don't know how much the quote will be but the assessor turns up in the next couple of days so hopefully the stuff can be ordered promptly.

?? Why cant they "remove" the windscreen? Smashing it to take it out sounds a bit excessive?
