    Re: Simpson crossing- Aug 2009

Not long to go then. Jeepers, you've brought it forward nearly a month.
Had to bring it forward to suit the majority of the group and also avoid the hordes that will be in Birdsville for the races.

My wife an I are headed out from Sydney on the 2nd of August up to the Channel Country aiming to end up in Birdsville, then travel down the Birdsville "inside" track to Marree, on to Adelaide for a night or two then up the Barrier Hwy for home. If you have a bit of room in your convoy for some extras, and the dates work out.........?

Opps.... screwed up my dates... we are leaving on the 22nd of August ops:

If you have a bit of room in your convoy for some extras, and the dates work out.........?
If your plans still match our revised dates then you are welcome to join us or at least catch up on the road somewhere for a brew

My current information is that the inside track is closed due to flooding.... obviously this may change by August... will play it by ear.

Hi Hoppy, I had to pull out of Micks trip due to Family and Work but have been lucky enough to get on another trip that heads out around 9th August from Adelaide. Should be in Birdsville about 16th I'm guessing and then following that heading to Innaminka. We will end up at Brokenhill about the 22nd I think If you are in Birdsville or Broken Hill (bit busy there) around that time then look out for a Navy Blue 120 with PP sticker on the rear and South Australian plates.

              Sorry If I'm hijacking here

We will be in or around Birdsville about mid August. As of yet I have not worked out a detailed timetable but we are planning to do a bit of exploring around the Channel Country first. My wife had a friend from the ABC do a trip out that way recently and said that the "inside track" was still closed but hopefully it will be open by August. If it is open we would prefer to travel it with another vehicle in case it is still a bit "boggy".
I can PM you in a week or so when we have a better idea of where we are going etc  .

I am heading off across the Simpson with 7 other cars on 25th July.

We are travelling via the French Line to Birdsville then back via Strzelecki Track. Back in Adelaide 8th Aug.

Could update you on track conditions before your trip

                    Sure that'd be great.

Was on the phone to Mt Dare today and also got Desert Parks Pass today so things are getting pretty exciting...

I know how you feel there Mick. We head off on the 10th August. It can't come quick enough. I miss out on the Mid Year Sale but I should have everything before and if I don't I'm in trouble. Still to pick up the Desert Pass but that's easy enough to get. Will post up the route we are taking within the next week

And ARB, TJM, etc... You can probably even get them at Snowys and Rays and other camping places.

My wife works almost right next door to RAA in the city so that will be her job.

                                Mick G'day,
I'll be out that way with 5 cars and 2 motor bikes , we're all into ham radio. We're leaving Sydney on 29th Aug and will be going to Maree via BHill then north to Poeppels (spelling ?) corner . We'll be on various radio frequencies including UHF CB .
It would be nice to catch up with others in the outback .

                                Cheers
