Neil, I am pretty sure it wont be nearly as wet as that. We can always count on the Chippy winch to get us out of trouble though.

I am pretty sure this is the Staples line (Chippy correct me if I am wrong)

Yep thats the track. The early pics in that thread are out the back (west) of wellington dam. then the staples line starts where the first winch can be seen.

Zgood fun, and would be interesting to see how the tracks are after the wet weather we have had.
But a few hot days recently might have dried it up a bit.
Count us in.

Sounds good to us, be good to get out on a run.
I looked at trip # 8 History in the Hills in the 4WD Days out of Perth
BUT happy to go where ever the group decides.

I'm thinking -
:arrow: 8.30 meet-up at Pinjarra Bakery
:arrow: 9.00 head down to Wellington Dam
:arrow: See if CALM has opened some of the tracks around Wellington Dam
:arrow: Morning Tea at the carpark at the top of the Dam
:arrow: Cross the Coalfields Hwy and head for the Refinery
:arrow: Duck in on the Powerlines track behind the refinery
:arrow: Pick up Staples line at the South Eastern end and try to get through to Harvey

I like the idea of Saturday 31st October.
November, for me, is really, really busy ......
..... and you'll probably need all of SUnday just to clean your car :lol: :lol:

Its a pretty full day out - so bring plenty of supplies.
Rated recovery points and minimum recovery gear - essential.

Keep in mind that I haven't seen the track in a year .... so it could be really rutted ... or it could have been freshly graded (like it was about 18 months ago)

Regardless .... the tracks around Wellington Dam and the tracks in behind the refinery are plenty to keep the stubby lever working.


I've included links a few pics of previous runs - including Staples Line after 4 inches of rain - and the guys who went with me on that day are still nervous any time I head south :lol: :lol: :lol:

31st is out for us as well, we have a team building camp and I will hopefully be doing a roast dinner in the camp oven Otherwise we would be there.

hey guys.....

The staples track sounds good to me to....I only have the grantreks so I will have to find the chicken track around the worst of it.

I took my partner for a run to Collie on Tuesday so we checked out the Wandoo North track from the book...trip number 3 I think it was.
The track is certainly no challenge at all, couple of washouts that had us on two wheels for a sec but nothing to worry about.
The first section srcatched the hell out of the Prado so that was no fun, very over grown and close in hard burnt sticks.

Sand is my favourite so anytime people head for the beach or the dunes count me in please....if Im not working that is.

what about sunday the 1st,just means you don't have the day after to clean the car,just my 2 cents worth.
