Dave, Since you already have your GPX, perhaps load it up to Google Maps (requires you to have an account)? It makes for a nice interactive map that's great for future trip planning too.

I would have my pics and track log up by now.... but some silly bugger has forgotten his FTP login details ops: Oh well, guess it'll have to wait till I get back to the studio... sorry :mrgreen:

Google Maps is having a cow - it only displays a portion of the track.

Finally made it into the studio today... it's amazing what one letter does for a password ops:

With fairly dry ground these tracks were nice and easy... with a bit of moisture on the ground I'd say they would be quite a challenge for HT tyres.

That's all I shot unfortunately
There were a lot more challenging areas but no where to stop the car to get out and shoot.

Whoohoo - piccies of the 150 in action.

That first one makes that hill look a lot less steep than it actually was!

By the way, I have some tracks from another forum for Mt Mee - here's the Google Earth capture, with the EPA map loaded as an overlay. Where we went is in Hot Pink.

On most of these hard packed tracks around 22lbs is the norm for me, also there is a trip at Ormeau on Saturday if your interested, look in the trip reports thread.

I drop my cooper ST's down to 22psi (the stauns were set to 24 but I think they've moved) when ever I go off tarmac for any length of time. 50% comfort factor, 50% better off road handling.
After that, I drop them further if needed based on terrain/obstacle.

Thanks for the tyre pressure advice.

As a 4wd learner, this sort of info is very helpful and not often included in trip reports.

I looked at the Ormeau trip and also photos of previous trips however the tracks looked a bit more than I could handle at my current level of experience ie not much at all.

I ran 29psi on that trip in my 150 with the standard Grandtreks as that was the standard pressure from the factory and seemed soft enough for those tracks.

The following weekend when it was a bit wet, I should have let them down a bit, as 29 was too slippery in spots (mind you, the Dunlops don't seem particularly suited to mud) ;-)


BTW, I live not far from Mt Mee (about 40kms by road), so if you want a driving buddy on the easier tracks along there, let me know.
