Re: Sat June 5th : SEQ - Ormeau - Reedy Creek - Burleigh

Many thanks to everyone for a great day. My daughter and I had a great time, even though we had to say farewell after the Ormeau stint.

Special thanks to Matt for organising and leading. Also, thanks to Gary for spotting me down a fairly gnarly rutted slope.

Here are a few random snaps from the day to whet everyone's appetite.

Nice work lads, great pics Matt. The rocky track you guys have driven up to get the veiws over the Gold Coast i have driven down a few times when i use to hang out with the Gold Coast Jeepers. Their is some good play area's in there.
Pity i missed this one. Dave those wheels and tyres look the goods!!

We must go again instead of Mt Mee next time, something different.

Most of the play areas have been fenced off and signs posted. From the old days, you might recall there was a lookout/picnic area at the end of Harts Rd (I think). It had an excellent hill climb and the views over the Gold Coast and West to the Hinterland were outstanding. Sadly, the council has padlocked a gate across the access to that too... sheesh .

And more fences were being constructed as we drove along the border of the Quarry.

          My 2 cents:

The early part of the northern Ormeau section. It reminded me a lot of parts of the track into Sundown National Park:

          Another shot of the lineup

What Matt failed to mention was that after we all negotiated a steep section of the track, we struck a dead end and had to go back up the darn thing, which is where I sat on my tail and scraped it. Thanks to Matt & Gary who worked hard to guide a few of us through the tricky bits. This is Bunsen on his way down

Clearly you weren't there the weekend after the last run then :P

Yes, looks like it was a great trip, shame I couldn't make that one.
