  • Wouldn't mind going out somewhere tomorrow now that the weather is clearing up. Was thinking maybe doing that powerlines track up Colo Heights way as we haven't been up there for ages. Post up if anyone's free, can go somewhere else if you want I'm easy

Also next Saturday there may be a trip to the Watagans if I can rearrange parenting duties!
    Cheers,

          • Been there a few times before and have topo's but like you, have not been for a few years. A lot of places I used drive, from what i can find out, require 37's and / or hours of winching.

            http://=http://maps.google.com/maps/...0ba66&t=h&z=11

That said, there are so many tracks up there, we can still have plenty of fun and I am happy look at anything. All depends on what people want to do.

The only issue is, I have to back on Saturday night for a very good friends farewell booze up by a reasonable time, the later I am , the faster I have to drink.

            Lets see what happens

Good one Stuart; I'm definitely free on Saturday. Leigh & Lorrae will be coming along too in their 150. Where do you normally go in to the mountains? I have no idea where to turn off the freeway as we haven't been there for over 10 years.

Hope this lousy weather clears up too

Last time I did that one it resulted in one broken CV, a snapped off tail light assy, bent lower trailing arm, one bent door, four snatch straps linked together trying to climb out with the broken car, long steep clay hills and some of the deepest bog holes I have ever driven through, with the only options being top of tyre deep, top of bonnet deep or turn around.

It was one of the best days out though!
I did it in my old GU ute with 3"lift and 35's which just made it out towing a broken Hilux!

My car took most of the mentioned damage besides the CV

                      • I really want to join this trip, but im not sure if my 2" lift (new one) will come on time this week.

Now it is just 2" at the rear (about 3 years without off-road use) and standard at front. Although there is nothing rubbing with the car, but I am afraid the 32" KM2 will not be happy with the standard suspension.

Please tell me if that is right - then i have to wait and fit new 2" kit first?

I just can't wait to join trips again.

don't worry you don't have to do anything that you don't want to . there are plenty of options .this is not a don't come if you don't have a monster truck trip . my mate still has grandtreks on his 200 series .this is a lets check it out and if you want to do it , do it , if you dont , don't , type of trip .

Nope mate, i actually fitted 32" BFG KM2 in my car yesterday. Running in local drive is very good, no rubbing at any point.

However, my question is I don't know if I join the trip this weekend - and at that time my new 2" lift is not installed as it is on the way to me now - will the standard front suspension is good enough to join the trip with my 32" BFG? (the rear already has 2" lift before, so not very worry with the rear although i will replace it soon when i get new lift kit).

                              mate, thanks for your idea.

because I haven't been there, so my question is if I can get in this trip with my rig this week (after this week, i will get new 2" all around and it should be better), or I should wait until I have enough 2" lift with winch done.

My question is about clearance under the rig, and the space in front of my rig. Im afraid if jumping a lot will not be a good idea as the standard suspension now with 32" KM2 does not give very large space in the front above the tyre.

For the tyres, i think my KM2 is not bad to go with this trip.

                              • Prickly Ridge Rd is a great place to access The Watagans. They sometimes shut the road off when its wet, and there has been heaps of rain up here lately. The road is pretty easy going in the dry, but can be a hand full in the wet. There are so many tracks to explore up there. Great places to see are The pines(good spot to cook lunch), Heatons Lookout, and Boardinghouse Dam(especially if you like goannas).
