hi there planning a trip to cape york june 2011 i live in cairns , i dont know anyone with a prado at all, i was hopeing we can get some people together to do the trip in a convoy would make it more interesting

yes mate i live in Cairns at Kewarra beach...we have about 10 members here..
we have done runs all over from day trips to overnighters..
we have pretty much done every track up here....
will send you a pm next trip organised...

At this stage stage it remains closed ....i was going sunday...if conditions allow the opening monday sounds good....

THE COUNCIL SAY ITS CLOSED JUST TO TAKE PRECAUTIONS AS THE DAINTREE HAS HAD RAIN , I DID THE TRACK 3 WEEKS AGO AS IT RAINED THE NIGHT BEFORE , WE DID NOT MAKE THE WHOLE TRIP AS THE ROAD WAS PRETTY WET , WE GOT NEARLY TO THE NORTH END OF THE TRACK AND HAD TO TURN AROUND, BUT FOR THE TRACK BEING CLOSED THE COUNCIL SAY ITS CLOSED SO THEY ARNT RESPONSEABLE FOR PEOPLE GETTING STUCK, BUT IF IT DOESNT RAIN UP UNTIL MONDAY WE SHOULD MEET UP AND DO THE TRACK, MY PRADO IS DONE UP EXACLY LIKE YOURS SO I DONT THINK WE SHOULD HAVE A PROBLEM GETTING THROComment

righto sounds like a plan..
i have done the track under all conditions from bone dry to complete wet includuding zig zag and the likes ...so have some knowledge of the area..
would be keen..

Hey guys,
I am currently driving round oz from Sydney nearly to cairns and have just clocked up 10,000kms somehow did a bit of a detour to bridsville but so that didn't help. We were hoping to make it to the cape but sounds like we're a bit late this year so next year it is. I'm sure you'll find plenty of takers by then and from what i've read on here and seen i'd say those guys up in cairns will keep you entertained until then and you'll be well prepared to tackle it.
