Hi Bluesman. I have stopped this particular unit as I am moving to a new model. I've been testing it and will update specs this week. In short, the newer version has a much better screen in terms of resolution, it has a faster processor, it is also 3G (accepts SIM card). Visually, it's a copy of the Samsung Galaxy.

In addition to the 7" units, I now have three 8" Acer A1-810s left. Bushbasher and JamiePrado are both running these 8" units and I believe they're very impressed. The Acer doesn't have 3G capability.

Thanks Ian for all your help with OZi and maps, your setup worked a treat and was easy to install as per your user guide. Like you said the 8" is the sweet spot for this kind of stuff.

I gotta say you are a great bloke to deal with and even checked back with me on how I was going with it, you use Kingston SD's (the best) and I look forward to catching up when i'm down your way next...

          Cheers

Ive just bought one of the 8 inch Acer units and Im very happy! more maps than you could ever use, quality windscreen mount and Ian was courteous enough to give me a call after I received it to run me through the basics, and to offer me ongoing support if needed. I like the fact that it will work as a city GPS as well as having oziexplorer so when we go offroad we can see where we are and also record our track log for the day etc. having the tablet is good too because we can load it up with movies and games to keep the kids entertained when we dont need the unit for gps!

Glad you like it. I think those Acer units are pretty much the bees knees.

p.s. - get a screen protector and a hard case if the kids are using it!
