    Hi All,

Can anyone please advise if Hella 4000 (Full size) will fit on a ARB Deluxe Winch bar.

I have read on these forums that someone has done it, and need to know if any mods were required.

If you have any photos, please post them as well.

I need an answer ASAP as I am getting either the Full size 4000's or the compacts, if they don't fit on Tuesday.

I already have a HID kit for them on ebay.

        Hi All,

Chuck - I did a trial fit by placing the lights into the mounting hole, and I couldn't get enough ajustment, as they fouled on the top bar.

Did yours just drop in or did you use a spacer to move them forward??

Either that or my Bar was made incorrectly.

Can you also confirm what year model your Prado is please?

I'm also running the full size 4000's on a ARB deluxe bar with no hassles. No modifications were needed to make them fit. I too thought at first there wouldn't be enough room to adjust them correctly, they are fairly close but there's more than enough room for them. I would be very surprised if the mounting positions varied on the ARB bars.
Go for 2 spots with the HID kit, I have a spot and a spread but plan to change it. You can see the spot far beyond the spread and with the HID it gives a wider spread anyway, so 2 spots would be the ultimate.

            HI All,

Can someone please advise what measurement they have from the top of the bar (where the Driving lights mount) to the under side of the top bar.

I want to check to see if ARB have made a slight change in that dimension.

              Hi Stuart,

Mine will be a May 2008 with a Sahara bar, I just searched for the photo on PP as I knew the information was here and just quoted from that post.

While it might seem like a silly question ops: Did you remove the nuts from the lights when you did the trial fit up? ops:

                Hi Chuck,

                Yes I did.

I would prefer the full size 4000's than the compacts, as the compacts look too small for the bar.

I will try to go back to the person on ebay who has the lights, and see if I can get some photos to show.

I was running the hella ralley 4000's full sized, one spread and one spot, I had a set of lightforce 240's in the shed from my last cruiser, I put them on the other day and they are a lot better, I mounted in the back holes on a ARB delux bar with a 12mm spacer and they fit perfectly flush with the bar, not infront of bar like they would mounted in the front holes, only small problem it just rubs on grill when opening the bonnet, but with a little care when opening it clears ok.

Stuart, you probably already have purchased the lights, but I will comment on my experiences with the same set up.

I have the full size Rallye 4000's in the ARB winch bar. The lights are VERY close to the upper bar, but do not vibrate against it. The front of the lights are behind the front face of the bullbar.

I drilled new mounting holes for my lights as I like the Hella arrangement of two (10mm I think) bolts for each light housing. It is super solid, and there is more than enough adjustment in the bulb housings so you do not need to move the light body to get alignment.

The HID modification is easy. I ran the wires for the HID bulbs up through the centre bolt hole (for the light housing) which was vacant because of the use of two bolts per light as described above. It makes for a very neat arrangement with no wires visible. (Or at least it would, except I left in place the the original wiring for the halogen bulbs since it was already there. It means that I can switch back if I do a HID bulb in the back of beyond. If I had not already installed the wiring for the halogen's, I certainly would not have bothered).

To do the same thing you will need to cut off and re-crimp/solder the connectors on the HID bulb wires. I have done that to all three sets that are on my car and have had no problems.

I have four HID ballasts mounted inside (and onto) the bull bar - basically behind the number plate - and two others located on the car itself just under the headlights, so there are plenty of places for you to use.

                    cheers, Tony

                      Hi All,

Thanks to all who have provided comments.

I have had the Full Size 4000's mounted and wired up at a Auto Electricians in Moruya, NSW yesterday while I have been a holidays.

The Auto elctrician has done a great job, and I will provide photos on my return.

As I picked up the lights on my way up here last week, I also bought onroute a Night Staker wiring kit.

I used a narva LED Toggle switch, which was mounted in the swich panel near the drivers door.

Rod I picked up my high beam supply for the switch/relay on my cough cough Rodeo from right in the back of the socket on the back of the bulb on one of the head lights. Would be interested to see where the Prado boys get it from.

Same spot .... driver's side headlight (before the dual battery went in) 'cause there's more space to work.

                                ok guys thanks...
so just to confirm, you ran a wire from the headlight connector, back through the firewall to a switch on dash, then ran another, the switch wire, from the switch back through the firewall and to the relay ... In essence, am best to use 2 core wire..??
                                cheers, Rod
