Getting Penrith Toyota to fit the winch cradle while they do the Sovereign bar mount recall. Still going to cost @$230 for the cradle and an extra $150 for labor. Tried phoning 2 other dealers but could't get the labor charge reduced. I'm interested to find out the weight of the cradle, may have to take my bathroom scales down and weigh it prior to them installing it.

Ive got a winch cradle right here and looking at the label on the box, it says 20kg, and it feels about that too.

I checked the instructions and the fitting time stated is 40 minutes. They have to remove the bullbar anyway for the recall and they should be charging very minimal for the cradle.

          After having the sovereign bar mounts replaced and winch cradle installed I installed the Tigerz11 12000lbs grande yesterday. I fitted the winch with the bar attached to the vehicle, no need to remove it again. Key points;
          1. I needed to grind a small amount out of the cradle as the negative screw/lug on the back of the winch motor needed to extra space.

          2. When ordering the hawse you will require the 'offset' type, this info has been posted elsewhere on PP.
          3. You will need 2x 3/8 1.1/2 high tensile bolts, to go through the hawse fairlead to the winch, Tigerz did supply sufficent bolts but not this length to suit this set up.
          4. ?Where to mount the solenoid, I had to fabricate a mount from 50mmx20mm RHS...will try and post a photo.
          5. I used @ 5m of 11/13mmsplit tubing, along with cable ties etc.

After a quick test all seems fine, will need to tension the synthetic rope at some time.

ps. Minor issue is that the number plate gets in the way, will have to remove it when ever I want to use the winch.

I use 2 hinges at the mounting points and a small length of string from the gaps in the bar to the lower mounting hole on the numberplate.

Hi all , i need your help/advise, i found a used sovereign bar dowm here in Egypt from a wrecker , but it is only the bar ,
my question is , will it worth buying , does Toyota sells the mounting brakets ? i thought to import the bolting kit along with the winch cradle from Australia , but reading that the winch cradle wights 20Kg made me thinking , either to forget about the winch or go with a new ARB. but still my main concern is the mounting brakets?

              appercitate your usual feedback

Had my winch fitted to the Sovereign bar by TOYOTA. Didn't really take much notice of what they had done (my mistake) but after about a year happened to notice that although i had paid for a craddle they hadn't actually put one in. So it can be done, luckily it went in for the recall on the mounts and they then installed all the parts it needed including a damn craddle for it.

                  Hisham,
Toyota sells the recall brackets at $300
                  http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post352654

The recall brackets don't include the chassis pins, so I got a few sets made up.
                  http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ereign-bullbar

The winch cradle is about $200
                  http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post341170

Depending on the price for the Sovereign bar, you might be better off with an ARB bar.

Wow, allow about 30kg for the parts.
Oh, I also have the radiator plate that I'm about to give the green light for production

Hisham, I think you may be far better off contacting one of the ARB stockists in Jordan Israel Or Saudi Arabia for a quote of a steel winch bar.
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

Have just read through the last 8 pages and good reading but there is a lack of pictures showing the winches/ control boxes in place. I can get the winch cradle no problems but wanted to actually see how the non Toyota winch (X9 Superwinch) actually fits.

This is all part of getting ready for the 2015 Tassie GTG.

                            Please share some pictures .

Hi Just trying to help, I've got a Superwinch on my Sovereign Bar (PZQ93 00020) and I'm led to believe (and its also got a Tojo 10 digit part number!!) that Superwinch is a Toyota winch. I read somewhere they were independent and supplying Toyota then got into trouble so Toyota bought them out!! Surely a x9 Superwinch is Toyota and there should be no dramas marrying it the Sovereign bar (manufacturer went bust and not made anymore)! I can give you pics if you like, just let me know.

The last time I checked the Superwinch cost more than a Warn. Been a while since I did some checking so might have to go back and just check that. I had a look at a Warn but also a Bushranger and was impressed with it.

Macaroon1 a picture or two of the winch fitted would be great thanks.
