I have had them for 2 years, and would NEVER venture onto the beach without them. I beach fish alone often and twice they have saved my butt from what could have been disastrous boggings.
Worth every cent. Also much prefer using them to assist others, rather than straining my vehicle with snatching.
I also don't go off road without mine...
Do a search... LiveFreeandRoam did a write up on one of his experiences...
Cheers, Leon There's no such thing as a wrong turn... it's just the scenic route!

I also would not be without them for lone sand work. Let alone the fact that MaxTrax are sponsoring the PradoPoint GTG in th eRed Centre this year, good to support a business that supports us I reckon.

Reason I bought them was that I had a moment of madness and let my daughter have a play on a remote beach and we got bogged in the middle of nowhere with no recovery kit at all and it took me over half an hour just to get out.
Since then I carry them every time we go out and only used them once, in fact last Sunday sank down as deep as we could get on a beach, on this ocassion simply put it into the lowest gear, in low with the diff lock engaged and drove out with a feathered throttle.
I run standard gradtreks at 18 psi on sand
Never leave home without them - just make sure you read the instructions/watch the video and maybe have a practice
Flicking through a recent issue of 4WD Action I found an advert for something that looks similar to MaxTrax but they are not. Was $150 for the set. I know it's politically incorrect to post here since MaxTrax are sponsering the GTG but there are others on the market. Not sure how they perform. Didn't have the grid base that the MaxTraxs have but looked more like a solid rubber base but then pictures don't always represent reality. The Club I'm in has purchased a couple of sets of MaxTraxs and they swear by them when caught in a bad situation.
I admit I saw them in the 4x4 shop that did my suspension and nearly picked up a set. But at nearly $300.00 a pair I just couldn't justify them. It just seems like a lot for what they are. I can see though that something like this would be the shot in sand. I'll wait till they come on special I think........

Yep a must have for sand and mud! This was one of my first purchases when I got my fourby. $270-$300 bucks is nothing for the time and effort saved using them.
Good example of this was when I came across a group of 4 4wd's one was up ontop of the sand dune, track two down below, one 1/4 the way up (one of those new AWD Volkswagons mmm?? ye can hear what your thinking) .They had already been there for an hour, could not snatch him up so they snatched him down only foot to two foot at a time then dig away the sand each time. Gave them the MAXTRAX and instructions and he was out and up first go! reckon I sold four pairs that day!
I to go fishing alone and they have saved me a few times, one time was in a incoming tide.Anouther good time was when the side rails where down under the sand (sand was like powder), just crawled up and out in two go's, no jacks,no shovels only dug the little bit of sand away from the front wheels (using MAXTRAX) to get the MAXTRAX in.
Definatly get youself a pair and get bogged and stand back and smile as you chuck them on top and head off with in minutes!
