  • Well I have calibrated my scanguage to my GPS reading and it is much more accurate than my speedo reading which consistantly reads 4 km/hr higher than what the car is actually travelling at. Hence if my speedo is reading 104 km/hr I know my car is actually doing 100 km/hr, my scanguage will show 100 km/hr in this situation as well as my GPS.

    • What vehicle operating temperature are being recorded on Scanguage II. Ive got an 08 D4D GXL Auto and I'm getting between 85-87 degrees Celcius. I have also heard that if the engine is running colder than normal, it increases fuel consumpsion considerably. My first 1/2 tank of diesel came in at 13.5LHK in city/freeway driving. So it would be interesting to see what other calulations people are getting.

Ditto with the temperature range. Fuel by the Scanguage and confirmed by my spreadsheet is 9.6LHK about 30% city 70% freeway in my Feb07 auto. I get below 13LHK towing my 2 tonne van off road. The fuel consumption sounds a bit high to me.

        • Anybody else had to adjust the fuel fill calibration to 43% like me? was reading nice figures of 5-7 LHK but my manual spreadsheet shows approx 10-11LHK, so i needed to adjust the fuel fillup ..am i alone here?

No you are not alone when I first calibrated my fuel I think it came in around that. I got so paranoid about it that I performed a factory reset and started it afresh. Make sure you have specified the type of fuel and size of engine etc as that is what screwed up my first readings.

            • Re calibration of Scanguage 2
I thought I had done something wrong with the installation until I read this thread. My speed adjustment is set for 5% to match the speedo (haven't had a chance to calibrate against a GPS yet) and the adjustment after the first tank was something around the 50% mark. Adjusted it further on the next tank and it's now down to the low-mid 40% range. Will keep refining with subsequent fill ups. Instantaneous LHK and overall tank LHK now seem much more realistic.

                Hi Masso
I stuffed the fuel adjustment in the first 5 minutes of using the Scanguage by playing around. I had to read the manual and after adjusting on the next 4 or 5 fills I found I sat on a 43% adjustment. I check litres used each time I fill up (I do not alter the %) then I press DONE to reset the tank figures.

                • my fuel fillup runs around 5-8%. Never changed the speedo reading as from memory it was spot on compared to my GPS and didn't realise you could make such an adjustment.

On our trip last year I recorded all fuel put in from the pumps, and most daily Scangauge readings (couple of tiny one trip to the shops days weren't recorded). When both are added up, I calculated the pump stats to be 18.22L/100km and the scangauge to be 18.23L/100km. pretty close considering all the factors at play!

                  Nige.

                      • I purchased a ScanGaugeII from Wooders Garage and tried it on my May built 05 TD Prado. I was told there is a 30% chance that it would work. Unfortunately I'm in the 70% that it doesn't work on so I contacted and them and I am returning it. GREAT service and support.

That's the bad news, now the good news.
Linear Logic are serious about getting the ScanGauge to work on earlier models like mine so there is hope for future developments. They are getting an ECU and wiring diagrams and the boss from US is going to see if they can make it work with SCanGauge.

                        • I popped into Wooders Garage this morning - David was more than accommodating and I was able to test the ScanGuage on my Prado. Unfortunately it didn't work.

I have a 07/2004 build V6, so it seems from reading these threads that the earliest petrol Prado they will work on is a 08/2004 build V6 - obviously the TD is different.

David also said what Dangerous_34 said above, that they are hoping to get them working on earlier model vehicles (including Prados) - no time frame, but here's hoping!

To David and the gang at Wooders - thank you. I know you read this forum, so please keep us posted with any developments.

                          Cheers,
                          James

                          • Just to update those still wondering, I did email Dave again requesting further details on why the Scangauge does not wake up occasionally. That was on the 7th April and I am still waiting on Dave to get back to me.

                            Cheers

                            • I'm now very regularly seeing the ScanguageII not wakeup on startup. I am changing my routine slightly when I get into the car and stick to it for a few days at a time, only too see that nothing I do seems to always wake up the ScanguageII.

I believe it is just a configuration setting that the manufacturer needs to tweek to recognise the voltage difference at startup. Maybe a longer timeframe or lower voltage spike is required? Hope they have a fix shortly because it is getting very annoying.

                              • For no apparent reason yesterday my Scanguage started showing settings of gallons and miles rather than litres and kms as I had set originally, back in July 07.

I changed the settings back and then noticed that the LHK started showing much higher readings than in the past.

Rang Dave and he suggested resetting to default (More/More/More reset default) to see if this fixed problem.

Have not been out since the change and just wondered if anyone else has had this problem.

Dave as usual was very helpful and i am to let him know the outcome.
