  • Plastic guard in wheel well

    Hi,

Does anyone know what type of plastic or rubber the flexible guard flap in the front wheel wells is made out of? I need to make up a new set before my next trip.

I'm referring to the flap that separates the engine bay from the wheel well that's held in place by push in clips.

    Thanks.

You can use some insertion rubber about 1-2mm thick.

Clark Rubber has it. Stewy recently made up a couple of replacements recently using the originals as a template on his FGay which are identical to the 120 & 150 Prado

The original guard flaps deteriorate over time and they are expensive if you get them directly from toyota. Worth considering making your own. The clips are a pain to get out if you want to re-use them, repacements from Toyota again are a bit pricy so shop around or re-use the existing ones if you are prepared to spend the time getting them out in one piece.
I made stensils of original guards, so if your originals are too far gone to copy I can have a look for them. Let me know if you need a copy .
          Cheers

I just replaced my plastic with rubber sheet from Clark Rubber (about $30 for one metre 1.8mm rubber sheet - thinnest they had).

Thread bump.. Does anyone have a layout/stencil of the guards? I'm sure someone posted a printable version on here but I can't find it. Mine are too far gone to trace around.
