    Hi all,

Sorry about the wait, please click on the link above to download the instructions for the Prado Lock up set up.

The link looks like a front page, but if you click "to download", it then allows you to download the word document, so you just need word or an equivalent to open it.

    Jamie.

    Torque Convertor lock up instal

I've just completed a DIY "torque convertor lock-up" on my 2003 1KZ Grande. Should have done it long ago. Works an absolute treat. I engage it once in 2nd and let it change up while locked. Changes brilliant. Stops the thing revving its little heart out and pushes the car along instead. Will drop into 4th @ 50km/hr and give 1100 RPM if under light throttle. Still pulls away at that too, but don't expect neck snapping acceleration that low. Heavier acceleration will change up later of course. Trans will kick back to 3rd about 40km/hr but won't drop back further than that. A touch of the brake pedal cancels the lot. Obviously if you don't use the brake it will just start shuddering once it gets to idle revs or lower. On hills it will kick back with only a slight jolt or you can swing the gearstick across to 3rd no problems. Haven't yet, but would be a hoot for towing.

    I used 4 reverse/change over relays.

    1. A "Main change" relay
    2. A "P" and "N" relay (to prevent lock up while in "P" or "N".
    3. A "Hold in relay".
    4. A "Brake" relay. (To cancel the whole Lock-up).

If anyone interested I can supply a wiring diagram and/or advise.

Oh, the best bit. Cost me $20 all up and half a litre per 100km better economy so far.
