  • Mozz thanks for the great info, all taken on board and being discussed with the auto leckie.

One problem I see with your diagram is the relay that switches the red/yellow wire is backwards, it should earth the solenoid wire when activated, not the TCM wire. Other than that glad to see you came up with a very similar setup to me, fingers crossed it works.

From info I have gathered Wholesale automatics make a kit for the D4D 120 prado, To me their kits look very generic so I'd be surprised if they do it any differently to what has been discussed.

Thanks Mozz. That's very helpful. Mine is actually a 2003 V6 (1GR-FE). Your circuits are for a 1KD-FTV 2004 to 2008. My biggest problem is finding a wiring diag that shows the connection to the TCC solenoid for my model. I'm starting to wonder if it even has a TCC. I'll have to do a physical check on my ECT Solenoids pin 13 and 5 to see if there is anything there. I see you have discovered the solenoids are 5VDC. I think Jamie's circuit still uses 12V to the solenoid which may be a problem in the long term. BTW you posted page 2 to of your circuits twice and no page 3. No matter though. • hey mozz plugs IL3 and IL4 do they go back to the main ECU? because from the diagrams I have the solenoid wires come from the TCM (under steering wheel, next to diagnostics plug) and P/N lockout wires from the gear shifter indicator plug.

same colors as you have though.

        • That would be a good idea mate. I'm sure some less technical minded people like myself would rather buy it off you than pay a much larger sum to a company

That is a great link mate it's the genuine Toyota manual I use. It does take a bit to learn how to read it. For any Prado after 05 you have to click the Repair manual supplement or the Electrical wiring diagram supplement and then click on the 2005.08- that drops down under it this will give you the latest manuals. Once on the wiring diagram you'll see that the connector numbers will be on each component and pin numbers as well. At the top of the screen there is a tab for connector list click on that and change the selection to sort by number you can scroll through these and find the relative connector click on it and once you sellect RHD it will show you where it is located.

The picture I have shows it all on the left side. Those junction connectors the ECT & ECU are also on the left. Have a looka t the diagram on the manual thatBlakMoth posted

              • With regards to the 5 speed auto's on, I have been following another similar forum
regarding a 200 series auto, seems the 200 series use PWM to the torque converter
to control the torque converter lockup pressure, does anyone know if this applies to
the Prado auto's and if so what determines the required lockup pressure?

Also apparently the ECU in the 200 series monitors the torque converter lockup
pressure, and that the torque converter has locked to the lock command and also
monitors that the torque converter is not locked when it has not commanded it,
apparently it monitors the input shaft speed and torque converter speed to determine
if the torque converter is locked or unlocked, if it locks when it hasn't commanded it
the ECU throws a fault code, hopefully the later autos in the Prado's aren't the same?

                          • Hi Mozz, I have the fitting instructions from Wholesale Automatics for the torque converter lock up kit for toyota 200 series. I don't know if they will help. I had them emailed to me by my nephew, but I don't know how to get them here. Cheers Bill
