If you don't have one factory fitted I suggest you fit one sooner than later.

$165 for 3 tins.
Should have done this earlier but I thought it was too hard. Turn's out its not too tricky if you have some handy PP instructions and follow them!
That was 3 hours at a careful pace too - we could do both in 2.5 the next time I think.Cheers

Completed the flush tonight.
Went to Toyota and got 12 litres of the WS ATF fluid and into clark rubber for some 10mm clear vinyl tube. Straight forward job, especially with the tom thumb pump. This is my favourite service tool along with my magnetic spark plug socket.
Fluid was pretty dark but didn't smell burnt. I'm guessing it hasn't been changed before. Car is V6 5 sp and done 135k.
Took it for a quick spin and certainly noticed that the gear changes are sharper.
Thanks for all the valuable advice, certainly gave me the confidence in getting the job done.Last edited by TBPrado; 09-12-2014, 10:15 PM.

edit: which transmission have you got? That Penrite oil you linked to does not mention Toyota WS but it does mention Toyota T-II/III/IV which would be suitable for the 4 speed.
To summarise, the cost for 3x 4L bottles of:
WS $165 (5 speed)
T-IV $145 (4 speed)

Don't know where the $97 came from, I just bought another 4lt tin today and it was $50-06 + GST so basically $55 which is in line with what Michael paid, that's country pricing, full retail, no special favours.

Sorry to derail from the thread slightly, but could someone with an external transcooler (V6 or, even better, the D4D) and also the AC electric fan that sits in front of the radiator post a few pics of how the standard V6 or aftermarket D4D transcooler has been installed?
Going into summer I wouldn't mind having a crack at installing one.
