Martin, get yourself a pair of 900s off ebay or trading post and grab a HID kit for them then you get a great pair of spotties for little dollars. You would not look back and they are easy as to adapt to HIDs.

Guys follow this link to get all the info you need about the IPF globes

      http://www.ipf.co.jp/English1/2007engli ... ogen1.html

It gives you all the info you need about the IPF Fat boys are thier higher speced bulds as well
I have just ordered a set of IPF X4 Series: Super Clear H4 Bulbs These are the IR type.. I got them from Next Level Motoring, I should have them in about 3 days, this is their site:
      http://www.nlmotoring.com/product-p/ipf-4x41.htm

I got the 3200k colour bulbs as I prefer the slightly yellow light for low beam as it doesnt reflect back in your eyes as much in foggy conditions or from our streat signs. With my HID spot lights with the white light, I have to dim them when there are road signs about as the signs blind me by the light returning back to the car.
The 3200k colour has the best penetration & distance of all the light colours & stills looks standard so there are no issues with the boys in blue.
2007 D4D auto, Tunit Power Module, Scan GaugeII, Bilsteins & lovels HD, raised 50mm front & 60mm rear, 10,000lb Tmax winch, 7/16th Amsteelblue synthetic 23,000lb winch cable, TiTan HD winch solenoid pack, Outback draws with fridge slide & 50 litre Waeco, Ryno roof rack & Alloy Cage & extra set of Rhino HD Roof bars x 3, TJM type 15 steel Bullbar powder coated silver, Dual battery setup with custom tray, Bosch Navigator spots with 55w HID kit, Sand Grabber mats, Toyota Tow Bar, Sensor Touch Electric Brakes, Cooper ST 265/70/17 tyres, Uniden remote head UHF radio, Modified Milford Cargo Barrier, Extra power points in the back run with 10mm wire for fridge & inverter, Anderson plugs with 10mm wire front & back for the camper & compresor conections. 7 inch in dash JVC DVD player with bluetooth & Ipod adaptor, 39DB Stebel High Power TM80/2 Magnum Electric Horns. JL Audio 300/4, 300/2 power amps, Pioneer TS-C160R front splits & TS-D161S rear speakers & 12" Pioneer sub

Still need to fit some heavy duty engine & transmision gaurds, snorkel. 9inch headrest monitors

I've bought a pair of the IPF Xenon 5000K H4 bulbs from an ebay seller in the states, should be here later this week.
After reading Yetiboy's post, I am curious whether these would raise the interest of the boys in blue?
I was mainly looking to fix the low beam issue as well achieve a whiter light as the 90/100w inserts I have now seem a bit yellow.
I have 130w bulbs in my spotties so long distance penetration is covered although I may consider upgrading these to Xenon at a later date.

          Yetiboy01,

I looked up the nlm site you had referred to:.

          http://www.nlmotoring.com/product-p/ipf-x55.htm

The 60/80W, would this cause the headlights to melt, meaning the plastic lens type they use these days :?: Whereas the IPF spotties use glass lenses.

          Thanks,
          Dustie

In the specs they say that they are safe for acrilic lenses, so it shouldnt melt the lenses, on some of the lights they say to turn them off when you are parked, this could be as there would be no cooling from the air as when you are driving along,
Just check the specs on the globes you are looking at on this link to the IPF site: http://www.ipf.co.jp/English1/2007engli ... EN_XX.html

Hopefully I will get mine this week, paid for the express post as it was only another couple of $ over the standard postage, be interesting to see the difference as I already have Phillips Extreme plus 80 globes that I got from the UK ( they one UK's car parts upgrade of the year in 2007) hopefully these will be better, the Phillips improved the high beam but didnt make a huge difference with the low beam

                  Hi all,
I received some IPF H4 5000K Super Low Beam inserts that I ordered from the states today and fitted them at work before heading home, and I have to say that I am deeply disappointed with them.
The light they throw seems much too blue and with no real forward light, they light up the area in front of the car with a dull blue glow and high beam is not much better.
I know that Mav and several others have these bulbs and was wondering if they experienced the same problem.
Is it something that can be improved by adjusting the headlights or could the headlight protectors be refracting the beams?
If not, then I'm going back to my old bulbs before I get winged at.

My experience is that the low beam performance is great the high beam is no better than the original globes. Not sure what is occuring with your setup as I had a definite improvement in my low beams. With the original globes in my Prado I may as well have strapped a white cane to the front of the car they were that bad.

Think of a 1960's 6-volt Veedub and you've got the general idea of the effectiveness of OEM Prado headlights... ops:

Because I didn't like the bluey colour, I went for this:

                        http://www.nlmotoring.com/product-p/ipf-x55.htm (for the prado)
                        http://www.nlmotoring.com/product-p/ipf-x45.htm (for the camry)

Hopefully I'll receive the globes next week and be able to give you some feedback.

                        • Just had a look in broad daylight, I had them in at the wrong position. ops: ops:
I've rotated them to the proper position and I'll see how they go tonight.
I'm still a bit concerned about the blueness, maybe 3200k is the go.

                          • Look at the colour chart posted by Mav here:

                            http://www.pradopoint.com/viewtopic.php ... c&start=60

IMHO anything between 4000 - 5000k should be ok. However I decided to go for the clear white rather than the Zenon blue effect.

                            • Dobbo,
don't feel bad at putting them in incorrectly. I put the passenger side in one third rotation incorrect and was very disappointed. With a quick twist all was improved. I am not overly impressed by the results on low beam and definately on high beam but they are an improvement on low. I have posted these observations previously.

All good now although the blueish tinge may take a while to get used to.
Serves me right for being impatient and trying to do things in half light and cocking it up
The wifes just gone off to work in the truck so It'll be interesting to see what she has to say about them in the morning.
