Clogged Sump Oil Pickup

    The injectors got changed last week, the new values were
    1- 0.5
    2- -0.8
    3- -0.3
    4- 0.3

      If you are worried you could use an engine oil flush, costs stuff all except for another fill of oil before you drive anywhere.

        I did a flush earlier today (only got prado back on Friday from getting injectors done), oil had only done 250kms
        Then dropped the oil and thats when I found it blocked.
        I blew it out (I know not a great idea) but i then poured fresh oil through motor and out sump to flush it out.
        I then filled motor up with flush again, ran for 15 mins and dumped oil again.
        I checked the screen and its clear now still.

        It's now filled back up with oil again and i was hoping it will be ok now.

        In a few days im towing a heavy boat fully loaded to WA (3550kms) which me and the wife have to do in 2 days as i need to start a new job there.

        So hopefully it will be ok with what I have done, ill drop oil again when I get there and have another look and hopefully sump is clean.

          Thanks john, yeh definately changed them and were the old style (i seen them) they were leaking.
          Hopefully they torqued them up right

            Well, all you will have to do is clean out the sump screen, which is pretty easy.
            You take off the second sump cover at the front, and take out the sump screen and clean it with carby cleaner and degreaser.
            You will need some Locktite Ultra Black or Grey, small tube, from Repco.
            This will take you about an hour and a half. Don't damage the surface in between the two covers.

            Correct, its from before they were replaced.

            Yeh im happy its good enough to do the 3500kms to WA and ill drop it off and clean it back up properly.

                Cheers mate, hopefully im on top of it now.
                Only thing left to do that im expecting is the clutch, but isn't slipping yet.

                  Well if that is the situation it probably just needs, to be washed as the new injectors and closes you had fitted would fix the cause of the gloop.The old, sooty injectors were another signal your past injector sheets were offered.

                    Just as a update, I drove over to WA and have just dropped the oil after 4000odd km and the pickup is clear now so i guess blowing it out was enough to clear it up

                    Ill monitor it every 5000km and make sure it stays clean but hoping to have no more dramas for a while.

                        Yes Troy, I would say so, the 1KZ does not have the same injector seal/sheets which is the cause of this pick-up clogging in the D4D.

                          I wonder if the pick-up clogging can also be an issue with the 1kz but? might get it looked at next service.

                            Dropped the oil in mine today and had a look up the sump plug hole just with a work light as I havn't yet got a bullant, it wasn't as shiny clean as some pics I've seen on here although wiped it with a rag over a screwdriver and could see the mesh a lot better. (70000 km)
                            Looked more like black oil residue (no chunks)
                            I must admit it had been 10000km since last oil change.
                            Will change again soon and look with bullant camera.
                            This is a late 2008 model does anyone know if it should have decent seals/ sheets or have they still not perfected it?

                              Depends if they have been recently chaged as the new design seals didn't come into play until late 2009 I believe.

                                Had the 120D4D serviced yesterday, they hada look up the sump with a camera. pickup all clean, at 181,000k. Very happy engine has clean bill of health!
