G'Day everyone,
I have a 2009 3L D4D GXL Prado. I have had it since 90,000. I have changed oil and filters every 5000km myself. I have also changed the inline and main diesel filters at about 120,000.
I need to change my timing belt soon. Like now actually. I'm at 150,256 kms. I am getting a mate that knows a few things about cars, but I just wanted to get some information that actually own these types of cars and have experience doing this so I appreicate your comments.
1. Is timing belt easy to change at home?
2. Do I need any special tools etc?
3. I have heard something about changing the pulley at the same time. Is this a good idea to do at the same time?
4. What is a rough cost for the timing belt and the pulley?
5. Is there anything else that should be completed at the same time as the timing belt?
What else should be completed at this 150k service. The car has only had oil and filters changed as well as diesel filters changed since 90,000km. What would be the most important things that need attention for a prado that hasn't been serviced except for the oil and filters as said above?
Thanks for your answers and suggestions guys and girls. I really appreciate it.
