Ryco filter box says produced to factory standard and has a big 'anti-drain valve' written all over it.

    #### hopefully it isn't what you suspect , thankfully we picked it up early on , the screen wasn't as bad as the examples shown by you.

I'll drain the oil again tomw and check it out. For a backyard mechanic like me will I be able to see through the drain hole by jacking it up and lying underneath on my back, or is it better to have it on a hoist.

I use ryco, made to o.e or better guaranteed. Probably the most used & trusted brand in filters in the auto trade.

Let it drain for 1 hr, then it will only be the odd drip of oil. Get a good spot torch, you will be able to see, a bit of worming around on the ground.

My filters are always full (genuine -8T's), there is a flap in the base that stops drain back. I would try either a genuine or a Fleetguard filter; if no improvement straight to the pickup. Your driveways not on a steep slope is it?

          mate

          looking at the video.

i dont believe their is anything wrong with your car.

every car Ive owned, the oil light take a few seconds to come off.

the light goes off once the car has oil pressure. thats created by the pump, which need the car running.

I've just noticed that the oil pressure light (red) stays on for around 3-4 secs on start up.

Is this normal with the 1KD D4D, my car is an 08 Prado?

            Appreciate your feed back.

            Thanks.
At start up or key on????????

As you can see in the video, it stays on right through out, in ignition and also 3 secs after it kicks over.

I suspected what you said RedHulux, it take a few seconds for oil pressure to build.

I just posted this up to see if everyone else's 1kd does the same thing and it's not an issue

From when the engine is started, it's on about 1 second. That's Normal.

Most filers that I have seen had a rubber "flap" the makes a cheap and nasty non return valve to prevent the oil draining out after the engine is stopped.

                  Cheers,
