Folks,
google D4D engine problems ...... the problem appears global and not limited to the Prado 3 litre D4D in Australia. Perhaps the injector system is too high tolerance/high tech for diesel fuel anywhere ?
Not happy Jan , having just taken delivery of one 3 weeks ago and intending to keep for retirement :x
The car is smooth and quiet compared to the NP Pajero just sold however I had zero trouble with the car and was expecting even better from Toyota.
I understand Toyota had similar problems with early 4.2 turbo diesels with bigend bearing failures at about 120,000kms. Toyota originally denied any liability but the problem became widespread and undeniable so eventually were repaired by Toyota even though outside the warranty period.
The D4D issue must go the same way , particularly with the internet so effectively connecting those with problems. I am hopeful Toyo will have a fix as this problem aside it's a really good vehicle.
