Re: Removing Bugs From the Intercooler

Yep LFAR. This is where I was thinking of heading with it all too. Just thinking about how to attach it without making too much of a mess. I was thinking some type of clips that I could use to just clip it on around the back. Then just unclip to remove bus or replace the shadecloth etc. Just need to find the right clips that I can use. Something like the little metal ones that you use to fit the bonnet protector. Then maybe one or two cable ties to make sure it didn't come off and create havoc with the drive belts etc.

I used the zip cable-ties exclusively. It was a little fiddly, but I was able to make it quite taught. It's been in place since March and shows no signs of wearing or loosening. From my experience, I don't think you need to go with any special clips to keep it secure, though your bugs might be bigger than mine  .

To clean it out, I simply give it a blast with the hose from the inside of the engine bay, spraying bug-body-parts over anyone standing in front of the car at the time . As well as the bonnet-grille, I did the same for the grille in the Sovereign bullbar.

Simple to fit and forget - no more bug issues. $65 well spent.
Thanks for the motivation... I just did the same. Fits v.easily and looks okay too. Will see how it goes on our drive over the Broome this week.
The insect screen seems to work well. On our trip from Darwin/Broome return didn't have any insects reach the intercooler under the bonnet. A few on the insect screen though, easily removed via hand or with water.

            Thanks Leachy,

Out of interest I'll compare that to my 1kz.
