Hi all
I have been keen to set up a idle up switch or hand throttle for my rig mainly for my endless air compressor. On this model prado there is a spare unused input on the engine ECU for a idle up. I presume it is fitted on the overseas models. Basically you need to purchase a pigtail connector from Toyota, insert it into the connector on the ECU, run a single wire to a momentary switch and then to earth.
It will when pressed raise the idle speed to 1200-1300rpm regardless of engine temp (unlike the 1KD-FTV D4D), and only lower the revs back to normal when you start to move more than a couple of km/h. Another press of the switch returns the idle to normal.
See attached pics
Sorry this one is not that clear.. PM me if you need a legible copy
I priced a idle up switch that is fitted in the D4D's but was around $110 trade and was nil stock in Aus, so I used a MOM switch I had in my stock that was originally from RS components for probably $20-30. If anyone wants the part no of that one PM me.
The pigtail was $26.50 trade and had to come from Japan. Just a note on inserting the pigtail, on the reverse side of the connector (opposite to the release catch) is a lock tab which needs to be carefully pried out to insert the connector on the pigtail and snapped back into place. Break that and you will have all sorts of dramas. You break it - I ain't liable!!
Any questions feel free 8)
Regards
Adrian
