    Hi Butane,
the two lower mileage vehicles are Hilux dual cab 4x2 SR5 autos, the one I drive has 265,000k and the other SR5 was mine until 120,000k(Now 300,000k) it was taken over by another manager when I recieved my current Hilux. The other Hilux's are all 4X2 SR Cab chassis V6 Autos with AWLC fibreglass canopys, none have had engine or Autotrans problems but two of the utes have had diff rebuilds (Touch wood)I find the fuel mileage in the Hilux is better than you could expect from the Prado as it only has skinny light truck tyres combined with 2 wheel drive only . I can only comment on my current Hilux and I usually refuel with STD unleaded (Company fuel card will only allow this) with combined highway / suburban driving usually giving around 65 litres for 600 to 630k it has a 75 litre tank. Engine wise just a quick sum they have roughly a combined mileage of 2,785,000k and really all I can think of outside normal servicing we have had one intank fuel pump fail @ 500,000+k & 2 coils fail and a couple of alternator bearings which I find outstanding we run Castrol oils and were using genuine filters until a switch to ryco about 2 years ago also genuine Toyota coolant. We also have seven VZ Commodore wagons and cannot keep ignition coils and cooling system items up to them
    Cheers Rick

      thankyou rick ,

i often search LURKE, in any threads locally/ internationally reguarding the 1GR-fe motor in different applications.../ .. vechile set up.s / fuel burn figure's , and mods...
very proud to be on this site , sporting a keeper V6, which as we all know are thirsty but a a blast to drive... , I'm one of the lucky ones that have a 05 glx , 6 speed manual,
with out all the electronic brake grabbing down kill assist ,, preventing the auto over- run ... bullshit , and would prefer to let the drive line do it's job, and save the brakes for stopping....

thankyou for the feed back mate , my rig as per my build up ...is slowly making the factory "prado" more capable for my needs... but i have so much faith in the 1gr-fe ( single VVTI ) that i evan put shit on the D4d boyz...
jokes aside, i feel the pain , my old man is currently driving one in a grey no mad tourer, and he has parked up his faithful 4.5 ltr turbo sahara, and hooked the van to the hilux instead but , because the d4d boyz on this site .... i have been educating him on how to tweek that donk...

thanks for the reply , but sold on the v6 here , i am 41 and plan on having this rig till they bury me in a plot... i know they are bullet-proof engines... as long as the are serviced,, and respected..... the other parts associated , with the prado platform , we will modify and replace as required ... thanks again ,

cheers butane running castrol front to back here too

Simple iTs a Toyota, bloody good engines those v6"s, if a falcon taxi & others with bugger all service can do 700,000klms a Toyota can double it. You would have to be doing the wrong thing to it to get less than a million Klm's, magnatec every 10k will do!
Make it every 5k if you love it and want to run it not the ground ( you might be 87 yrs old)

Don't tell roo (john) the water pumps have lasted 650k I will leave mine go too I think lol....... :-)

bloody good life spans there klm wise, done a bit of poking around the net and A LOT of people are getting minimum 500 000klms out of the motor, i researched every 4wd available thoroughly for many months before buying, obviously being a prado forum some may say owners have rose coloured glasses, but after looking at all types the 120 series has to be one of the class leading vehicles as a starter platform, the range, power, room and the sheer volume of these vehicles speaks for the quality. Literally cannot make the trip to the shops 3klm away without spotting at least 2 without fail, mines a keeper, if and when the v6 poo,s itself, ill drop another in and keep building it up, love it.

              cheers

Heard of an 80 series cruiser doing 3 laps of Australia with 900.000 kms on the clock (was the 4.5 litre in line 6 cylinder). Was advised by a number of mechanics to keep my 80 series and NOT buy a 100 series.

I did post earlier that we also have another 3 of these Hiluxs that are between 500,000 and 600,000k so I have not seen a problem with the 1GRFE bar the 670000 k one has had the auto out twice to replace the rear main seal. I will forgive it that minor glitch

As we have purchased a replacement Hilux the current vehicle is being retired with 713,089km on the clock -pretty impressive as it still goes great and when we put it up on the hoist today it has "0" oil leaks and no oil consumed between changes! very impressed and if we were not faced with a 3 month wait to replace a Hilux we would have run it on longer -mighty engine that 1GRFE. :-D
