Remote Central Locking Problem

Hi All

I'm not sure if this is the right part of the forum for tjhis post. I live in a Glen Innes in NSW which is a small country town with a wide main street. I've noticed that if park my 2007 120GXL in a certain section of the main street my remote central locking doesn't work. The first time it happened I changed the batery in the key and when I got home I locked the car without a problem. I thought this had solved the problem until I parked in the same spot again a few weeksn later and again the remote didn't work. I moved the car down the street and the remote worked again.

So my question is can something like a wireless network or security system interfere with the remote central locking?

I have had similar problems two or three times when I have parked at MacDonalds. Different mainland towns each time. I have suspected some radio interference problem.

I had a similar problem with my old 90 Series Prado (with aftermarket alarm/immobiliser) when parked near a large TV station or radio antenna. The problem would only occur sometimes and it depended on where the car was parked. On a number of occasions it took a few tries to get the car to unlock. On one occasion, I couldn't unlock the car at all. I had to use the key to open up the car. The car would not start. The starter motor wouldn't even turn over and I put it do to interference jamming the immobiliser. It took me a good 5-10 minutes of trying to disable/switch off the immobiliser manually before the car fired up. After that incident, I never had a problem again.

There is a place in SA on the escarpment overlooking the City where due to some radio towers wireless items do not work at all and there are a few signs telling the public to lock up manually. Radios also do not work.
