That is another Toyota unit by FujitsuTen (who manufactures most if not all of Toyota's units). Looks like the previous owner may have swapped the original headunit for whatever reason. That unit could have come out of any Toyota model from the early 2000 era. I think you have a GX and not a VX. The GX has 2-tone colours where the bumper is black. Can you post a photo of your Prado, please?

Refer to this GX on carsales. It has a picture of the dash and the headunit looks like yours.

Does the exterior of your Prado look like the one in carsales?

Hi amts,
Thanks for your reply. I have a photo posted in my album under my profile. Can you see it there. Not sure how to get it as an avatar. The GX photo on carsales is a little unclear but the unit looks similar. I guess one of the previous owners must have changed it over at some point. Sounds a bit odd but heh..... My car is definately VX as it has all the woodgrain and airbags throughout.2004 VX 4litre, 4 speed Auto, Sovereign Bar, Spotlights, Dual Battery System, Towbar, LPG Conversion

I have had two 120 series Gxls, an 03 and an 05. They both had six stack cd's, The 03 also had a tape player as part of the unit and the 05 had no tape facility but did have full mp3 compatibility (it was the first of the 5 Speed auto update model) . I recall driving an 04 VX a number of years ago but it had sat nav.2012 Prado Altitude TD4D... Just on topic of the old head unit, i listed and sold mine on ebay over a year ago, it lay in my shed for 3 years until i had a clean out. It got bid up and sold for around $80 for a single CD unit so theres a way to recycle them.2011 GXL D4D Auto | ARB Deluxe winch bar | Bilstein/Ridepro platinum lift | MT ATZ P3's | Dick Cepek Torque rims | Airtec snorkel | Lightforce Genesis 55w HID | GME UHF | 55w HID high beam | Rhino Rack bars & Cage | ISI extreme rack | Dual Optima Batteries | Milford MXV-70 cargo barrier | ARB onboard air | Prodigy P3 | Drawers & Black widow fridge slide | Waeco CF-50 | Kaymar rear bracket and LED light | EscapeGear seat covers | Sandgrabbas and more...

Yes I can see the photo. The plastic panels looks like the unpainted grey colour.
Do you have a separate diff lock switch, H-N-L on the low-range gear stick, climate control, DAC switch? Sure looks like a VX with the roof rails, but was wondering that it might be a GX with option pack.

Dont forget amts, even the GX could be optioned up wth all that gear even duel climate air, not sure what year model but ?? may have been when the duel air become standard in the GXL's which I think was 07 for memory ?? Maybe the previous owner had the bottom half coloured the same as the top of the mudflaps ?? very hard to determine what it is by the photo from the outside. Wood grain wood give it up as a VX I suppose. Jurgs on the drivers seat on the base do you have just one electric rocker switch ?? Cheers steveFace lift 150 Prado V6 auto. No mods yet

Yes, that's right Steve. See here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post285082
I was trying to determine if those features were available in Jurgs' Prado. If they're not, then it's definitely a GX. But if the extra features are there and if it was a GX, then the previous owner could have added the roof rails and woodgrain trim, but this is quite unlikely but given the outer panels being different, could suggest otherwise.

Hi Guys,
I have all the VX gear (at least I think so). Has the diff lock switch, HNL, DAT buttons, Dual Climate Control, Climate Control for all rear passengers, Velour trim, single rocker switch on driver seat for lumbar support, 6 Speaker Stereo, Roof Rails etc. Pretty sure that other than body panels and stereo everything else is as expected. If you could option a GX up with all of this stuff would it not end up more exxy than going for a VX to start with ? All I can think is that stereo got swapped out and someone crashed the car and had panels replaced with different colour. I don't actually mind the two tone colour.....if nothing else at least it sounds like its unique :-) As for the stereo, I guess I'll just burn a bucked load of MP3's on a single CD. I too have recently found our CD stacker under the passenger seat, after 3 years, opps! My question is: has anyone relocated their CD stacker from under the passenger seat to the small compartment above the glovebox? It looks possible, so does anyone know of any reason why it may not work?
Regards, Bob
