No worries Stuart ... we've all been through the wringer of believing a dealer .... then we log onto Pradopoint and find out the truth.

Makes us wonder why we have dealers sometimes

It'd probably work out cheaper to move the intercooler to in front of the radiator. You'd most likely get a better result too!

With the intercooler sitting on top of the motor, it would suffer from heat soak until the vehicle was generating enough speed to force cool air in. In the Prado's case, the air would heat up as it ran through under the bonnet before it reached the IC, meaning it wouldn't run as efficient as it could sitting up the front.

A lot of fellas do this mod on their WRX's and notice a huge difference. My last mechanic did it to his WRX after noticing how well the car ran on a cold winters morning, only to drop power as the day warmed up. He moved his intercooler to the front and his power was more consistent all day and didn't suffer from heat soak.

It'd be interesting to see what the performance increase would be in the prados with this mod... Anyone?

                        Correctamundo!

Thats why they call top mounts INTERHEATERS!

Prado might look alright with some alloy pipework and a bit of polish in the bay

Here's a pick of my 808/RX3 engine bay and the front mount's infront of the radiator...

Look alright in the Prado hey

I think the original idea of the thread was for asthetics more than efficiency....

I reckon a well designed one would look sexy too, but if the number of locusts on my intercooler are anything to go by the double skin bonnet works pretty good. (as a bugcatcher) 8)

                              Hi All,

Neiool - Is That Intercooler scoop a Nissan Patrol version?

Were you able to use exsisting rubber seals or did you need to fit new ones?

Please advise as I am planning to visit a wreckers for a doner bonnet and intercooler scoop and try it on that.
