My car is an auto D4D 07 model. I had an annoying clunk going from forward to reverse, and when turning on uneven ground at slow speed. Would happen once then not again until I changed direction or moved slowly again on uneven ground. Went to an independent suspension centre here in Radelaide, was told the swing arm bushes are shot. Had them replaced and the noise is now gone.

Diagnosing clunks etc are a pain, plenty of suggestions to date but this one might help you locate/isolate the problem. I mention this as you refer to swing arm bushes being a possible cause. A side benefit (actually main benefit) is I now have correct wheel alignment. I won't be paying upwards of $140 for a 4wd 'expert' centre to sub the work to one of their mates, i'd rather go direct and deal with the person who does the work. It cost me less in the long run.

Try a search for suspension recommendations in Sydney.

    Good luck!
    Cheers
    Tim.

I had a rattle/ clunk while I was away and after crawling under the Prado with a hammer finally found where the noise was coming from. One of the bolts holding the guard on the side fuel tank had come slightly undone causing the strap to vibrate and make the rattling sound.

Doing the bolt up was another stroy as it was the one closest to the wheel so the wheel come off to allow access.

I had a rattle exactly as you describe, Tucky88. It was really annoying and slowly got louder. It became a loud rattle whenever you went over speed humps, a creaking sound when you turned sharply at low speed, and a clunking sound under firm brakes.

Toyota found it to be "a loose camber pin". They tightened it and now its as quiet as a baby. (a sleeping one that is)

similar rattle here in the 150 when going over bumps, low speed turns and firm brakes. Especially when I'm sitting in the passenger seat. That rattle turns into a 'thunk' which can be felt on the floor just in front of the seat. Felt it since showroom brand new.

That doesn't sound normal to me. I would be inclined to get it checked out.
