Re: List of faults new grande
I reckon I could bet my gonads on the thumping issue !!!!! Bet its the rear tailshaft trying to slide on the yoke !!!!!!! This is also a known problem to toyota and has been since the 90 series, I have had a 97 grande and now a 01 grande both 90 series. The V6 was alot worse then the 01 diesel I have now virtually not there. Tell me if Im right in my description. You pull up at lights and come to a stop and then theres like a little thump ?? Tell me, when you release your foot off the brake to take off you some times get another thump and so on ?? Its the rear tail shafr AND TOYOTA know about it, they even do a replacment shaft, if they say they dont there full of shit. They have a modified one for the 120 series, they never did one for myn the 90 series, Some times they will pull the shaft out, pull it away from the yoke clean all the old grease and crap off it then paint this goldy coloured stuff on it (cant remember the name of it) then reasemble then put a small amount of grease in it and away you go BUT the thump will return you need to keep up the greasing on the slide yoke but not too much or it will not allow it to slide properly in/out Will get back to you about the exhaust noise in a sec phone ringing. Regard Steve By the way I worked for TOYOTA
