Hi all. So I thought I was one off the lucky ones, 7 years down and no cracks. Then 3 weeks ago it started. I’ve always had a dash matt and I sure the previous owner did too. My cracks all seem to be in the small areas not covered by the commercial matts. Has anyone else seen this?
I now have a crack running from the driver’s door across the front edge above the instrument panel and on over the centre panel. Also have a couple on the passenger’s side.
A quick trip to my local dealer and very pleasant young lady from the service department checked my VIN on their computer and it looks like mine is on the list. So now with photos of the cracks, Odometer and number plate sent to head office we wait.

Good news for me! I mentioned earlier that I took mine in 2 days before the 10 years was up! Phew! I was told that had the 10 years been up it would have been "very difficult". The part was ordered on the spot and today [ 3 weeks later] I was rung to say the part was in the workshop. Yippee. Booked in for the 14th. Car will be up for sale very soon after as I was preparing to sell it when the dash cracked.

What did you have to do and who did you need to speak with? Mine has the cracks around the centre AC vents and right through the middle of airbag.
What are the chances of having the dash replaced in a 12 year old vehicle? Looking through this thread, most seem to be within the 10 year period.

I took my 11/06 Prado with 320000km on the clock into Mackay Autocorner on Tuesday they took photos of all the cracks, speedo, compliance plate and number plate. They never asked for service history. I had cracks all across the dash from one side to the other. They said it was the worst they'd seen. I stressed that I had concerns about the cracks across the airbag. I was very happy with the service, the girl that looked after me was very nice and helpful. They called today and said it's approved parts and labor. Very happy.

Cracks have been on my dash for about 2 months now, I just called my local service department today. Found out my VIN is a month outside the 10 year replacement date.........
I pushed the issue and they said they are going to get back to me.
As blackvx said, if anyone has been successful claiming outside the 10 year period, would you mind sharing some tips?

There is a lot of useful info here
https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files...20business.pdf
For those wishing to push the matter further especially the references to statutory warranty, merchantable goods, and fit for purpose.
Personally I will be sending a letter to the local dealer that knocked me back (11/04 model) on the 10 year excuse to push harder for a suitable resolution.
