Hi all,
Why have people stopped talking about getting Toyota to pay for the repair?
I had my 2003 dash replaced by Toyota in 2008. I had to pay contributing $ which I did because I was sick of fighting them.
I have a 2008 version now and will not be paying anything if it cracks. Tough talking I know, but I have all the paperwork, contact names in Toyota and a pathway to the Consumer Tribunal. I am sure they will be interested to see me again with the same problem. NOT.
Toyota know its a problem and have acknowledged that by offering to pay at least half the cost. My 2003 was out of warranty and I still got them talk.
You have to go hard at them and let them know that you will be going to a Tribunal if they don't come to the party.
bbuzz - A lot of us simply don't have the time. I am self employed so that rules me out. Of course this is exactly what they bank on.
More importantly, I find it quite astounding the lengths that vehicle manufacturers will go to, to avoid warranty claims. Obviously theres more money in not paying for repairs than having happy customers.
After sending an online enquiry to Toyota a couple of weeks ago and not hearing anything back ( though I must admit, I didn't chase it up either), I figured I'd start emailing a few places with pics of my crack (pun intended) and finally found a guy in Perth who I lined up to fix it at a reasonable price.
Then Toyota got back to me...
Told me the same story as many others on here and to pop down to my local dealer to have it assessed, so that's what I am doing on Wednesday.
Funnily enough, when I booked it for the assessment, the guy (who I must admit, did sound like a genuinely nice bloke), reckons he has never heard/seen a dash crack. *Shock*
I politely told him he might want to Google it...
Stay tuned for next episode in acoupladays...

And you're surprised at that? Toyotaways never heard of inner guard cracking. Goldfields Toyota never heard of injector failure. I could go on.
