It looks like it's got similar lines to the 200 series. Not too sure about the fit on the head and tail lights!

I actually think that is a 200 series cruiser, looking at the back bumper and window surrounds are just like the 200.

agree billyS, I'm a big fan of the current shape, and if the rav/kluger/200 are anything to go by there's a bit of a pattern forming....

You have to admit though that the current model of the Kluger is lightyears ahead of the old model in looks.

My dealer told me it will follow that same platform.

Those pics make it look like it's got a flip up/down tailgate like a cruiser.

The spare underneath is interesting too

shame to loose the second tank but i'd be lying if i didn't say a flip down/up rear door would be handy on occasion... getting the space to swing the back door open can be a challenge some times!

                        Hi All,

I just hope they upgrade the seats on the GXL model (if they still have one then) to include Seat Height, Seat Cushion Tilt and Lumbar support. All of which are missing on the current model, but shown in the owners handbook.

I too agree with Mcbains comments. It does look as if it has a Flip / Down rear door and again I would hate to loose the 2nd fuel tank for the sake of the spare tyre.

In some countries (eg NZ) they have an under car spare mount but still with the swinging door, ie no extra tank.

I have a mate who has gone from a 120 to a LC100 and prefers the swinging door on the 120 as the tailgate is handy for a seat or table, but is awkward for access to gear at the front of the back(!)

I hope the new GXL picks up the specs from the VX model. You shouldn't have to pay extra for tilt/telescopic steering and fully adjustable front seats. Dead cow option would be good.

I like the idea of the folding 3rd row seats. The current 3rd row seat's usability is somewhat flawed.

New to this site..... heaps of good Prado info.
I guess the question I have and perhaps any others.... will the V8 Twin Turbo Diesel engine from 200 series be an option for next model prado?

I really doubt it. The D4D has been the benchmark in Europe and now is in Australia. I would say they will be keeping the D4D just the way we like it.

My dealer said that the end of 2009 is when the next model is due, but don't expect it to arrive in Australia until 2010.
