Checking my weights

I put mine on the scales the other day, it weighs 2420kg with full fuel, me (110kg), my work bag (10kg) , rock sliders and an arb deluxe bar and NO 3rd row and NO other "stuff" in the car.

Ive found this discovery very frightening.

id driven 6 mates (and me) home from the pub the night before and at an average of 100kg per person x6 = 600kg + 2420kg = 3020kg . That's 120kg OVER MY GVM and didn't account for the 3rd rdow of seats, box of beer or the pizzas for the wags.

i could imagine that if id had an accident, id be screwed by the insurance company as my vehicle was over weight and thus illegal.

Morro85 - with 6 x 100kg blokes in the car most of your entire 720kg(ish) payload is already gone, forget about ANY accessories!!

120D4D- you are absolutely right!!!!!!!! except we don't have a 720kg payload. we have the difference between what our vehicle weighs and GVM (gross vehicle mass, the most a vehicle can weigh with full fuel, people, mods etc etc). at 3020kg I'm 120kg overweight.

think about this:

nearly all 4wd wagons on the road that u see all decked out with all the accessories, 2x adults and full fuel are OVER their GVM. on top of that, imagine that same wagon with a roof top tinny/boat/ canoes and towing a half decent caravan, I guarantee they are OVER their GVM, GCM (gross combined mass, car and trailer combined) or both.

truckies are crucified for being overweight, yet people seem to be totally unaware they need to follow the same rules in terms of vehicle weights

I started this thread and have managed to get my fully loaded and passengers, freight, food, weight down now to 2910 - only 10 kg over. Will get the ball weight of my Cub checked when I put it in for a service next month before a trip to western Qld.

You and your mates need to slim down to 90kg or less. That's a saving of 180kg straight up!

Oldgreyfart, when u put your trailer on the tow bar, you will be overweight still as you have to reduce your GVM by the weight on your towball.

Yes i could do with slimming to 90kg, but when your mates are 6ft plus gym junkies, footy players etc it really isn't going to happen ������������

" Well aware of this - the 2910 includes 130 kg for the ball weight based upon my check of it some 2 years ago. I just intend to recheck it. Depending where the water tank (most are at the back) you will have a better (lighter) ball weight with water in the tank!

mine sits on top of the axle. This is not an issue. I weighed ball weight with full tank and 40 litres of liquids on the tow bar. Just need to check what it currently sits at. I tend to leave unwanted stuff at home nowadays.

Decided to take mine for a check on the weigh bridge not good.
= 120 Full fuel load, Arb bar, Winch, 40 ltr fridge full, Drawer with recovery gear, TJM bash plates, Fridge Battery, Alloy roof rack with awning and myself comes to 2760 kgs.

Not a good result considering I still have to add the family (Wife and 1 teenager) than a camper with a 200kg tow ball weight.

Don't understand how you guys are under 2500 with nearly the same accessories , except the winch.

I must have a very heavy winch or a weigh bridge miss reading.

And if you were thinking I might be the reason 80 kgs

Might need to put the old girl on a diet...........the car I mean.
