Also commented that many dealers were signing people up when they knew no cars were available. Be VERY careful if you sign a deal in the near future as a 3% price rise is due on 1July and dealers will be legally allowed to impose it on you (Unless you strike it out of the contract of course)

I'm totally bummed as we have a 6+ week trip planned in July / August and were hoping to cross paths with those on the GTG.

Looks like it will be in jeopary now.

If anyone knows of any cars lying around at dealers I'd appreciate any heads up. MY deal was $62 on road with metalic paint, tint, carpet mats, tow pack, reverse park, headlight and bonnet protectors as well as window shields and rear deflector...oh and a insect screen.

Sorry for taking over this thread.

Hey Bankrupt Grand Toyota has what they stated the last d4d gxl in Perth i was in there on Saturday by the way it's silver.
Thanks Jogal, called tehm yesterday and they said it sold Saturday.

      Hi Bankrupt,

I just had an email back from my dealer he has quite a few GX manuals available at the moment and has ONE definate GXL auto arriving in July which at this point has no takers. Supply must be tight.

        Hi two+four

Thanks for that, supply is tight.
GX's are aplenty as Fortescue and BHP dumped two big fleet deals. 70+ cars now sitting in Perth with no takers.
Hence the run-out on them in the paper on the weekend for $49, 990 drive away.

These are an option although I've been told to wait by two dealers. This is because Toyota are waiting to see how the deal goes and if no good it will be fitting them out to near GXL spec.
They'l cop alloys, spotties, roof rails, leather gear shifter, 6 stack cd c/w bluetooth, cruise and passenger airbag.
Only real differnce then will be the climate and rear air-con.

Only trouble with this is that you will always be selling a GX and people may not necessarily realise/appreciate the option swhen it comes time to sell.

Croozer, it doesn't matter what others paid 4,6,8,12 months ago. You are trying to buy now. The $A has been smashed against the yen since Sept 08 so that will be a major factor influencing the current price. This will ease back over the next few months as the $A has recovered somewhat but Tojos are purchased on forward contract rates. And it looks like supply is tight so that will not help.

Now, if you wanted a Commodore, things would be a little different!

The price I listed is from the website. On-road costs (including delivery) should be able to be negotiated away and, IMHO, are just an extra cost designed to help increase the dealer's profit margin (as is the RRP - which already factors in a healthy margin for the dealer).

Re: GXL quote - Toyota won't budge!

Never believe prices quoted on websites as gospel.... in my experience anyway. There is always something that's been left off that pricing which of course you'll need / want. The website figures are to get you interested and through the door of a salesroom, where a master salesman can work their magic on you. Example. When I was looking, the prices quoted on the Toyota website did not include airconditioning. Aircon was an optional extra at that time. The price is what the man says at the negotiating table, not that you can negotiate much.

The Gx Vs GXL. Resale will be affected down the track there's no doubt. I read above that someone thought GX's come with the narrow tyres..... nope! GX's have come with the 265/65's for some time now. The Standard model is now the one that comes without the wheelarch flares and is fitted with the narrow tyres.

With the option packs, and a set of alloy rims, the GX's will be 95% GXL anyhow. As mentioned, you'll be missing rear aircon and climate control. You'll also get a basic stereo.... which goes damn well by the way. All that stuff you can put in at your leisure later... if you feel the need. Can't say I really want that gear right now though..... but that's just me...

I had a quick flick through the paper yesterday here in the West and a few places had near new D4D auto GXL's with only a few thousand km's on them in stock ready to roll - ever thought of going one which is slightly second hand?
