Bocar seem to only do ute trays now and moved from QLD to NSW. I don't know who makes the new bars now.

      Hi Barrlind

My bolt pattern looks the same as yours. 4 bolts on both outer brackets and only 1 bolt in the middle of both inner brackets. It didn't look right to me and I was going to query it, but it's been back twice for the fender alignment so I gave up.

          Hi guys,

i was advised by the service manager of a dealership here on brisbane southside,

that with the new mounting kit, the bullbar can sit flush with the front guards and front area etc and do not require a 1.5mm gap in the GXL, grande's and VX bullbars due to the black stripe trims have about approx '1 cm give in them' ..... however with the "non luxury" sovereign bars apparently they still need a clearance.....

*this is where i frowned and said that i was told that 1.5 mm is needed so that no damage can occur from the vibrations.

can anyone advise me if someone has heard the similar story, driving home nothing seems to be damaged / rubbing occuring?

Car has been rebooked for other work so Im concerned after reading multiple posts here.... i guess i can advise them to change it ... the bullbar is only a fraction i mean only a fraction off 0.5 cm too far to the left ? would this hard / imposing on them too much? ive taken the car back so much i feel like a pain in the arse.

          ray.

ps. rob(hutch), albion is a very good dealership, however this dealer is also been really well and understanding and i guess we all have to thank toyota for giving us the new mounts

My gxl still has a gap, otherwise the bar won"t line up propertly with the flares etc.

Hi Rob, happy new year to you and everyone !!!!

ill post up some images in the morning.... surprisingly its sitting well just a tad i mean as i said before 0.5 cm too far to the left ? it fits good and looks a million bucks. however if it causes damage to the new car already its probably not worth the flush look.

              cheers

Just an answer to the "number of bolts" question some have been asking. Had a crawl under the front yesterday and I have a total of 8 bolts per side. 5 on the outside and 3 on the inside.

Now it would be good if we could get a copy of the instructions that are used to install the new brackets so we all knew just where and how many bolts should be used :? .

I have been reading this thread for a while now and finally got my wife to get in touch with the Toy dealer the other day, she took it in last Wednesday mornin at 8 and was told a couple of hours it would be ready.
Three and a half hours later she told them to drop her home and ring when it was ready. They rang at 3.30 and said someone was on there way to pick her up, she asked what took so long and was told that removal and replacement of accessories was the problem.
When I got home from work she relayed the story to me adding that it shouldn't take that long for an aerial and 2 spotties ( she has some idea workin in the industry as a warranty clerk at a Mazda and Hyundai dealer ) , then with a grin  I said what about the other stuff  ( air horns , receiver tank and outlet, shu roo ) she gave me a look   and said mmmmm  .
Anyways I go out to check and find that the bar is much better aligned than it had ever been since new, but a quick look underneath reveals that the lazy SOBs had cut the wire going to my led park and indicators on the bar itself about 4cm from the original join  and resoldered them but must have run out of electrical tape as only one side had been taped up. Everything else seems ok so far so overall not too annoyed with them but asked wife to ring and tell them next time the apprentice does some work they should check it is finished properly , her reply was not wasting my time with them arrogant mongrels  .

You will eventually will all recieve a letter .Yes only for sovereign bars ..mounts need to be replaced for durability only (stronger mounts)

3 .....I fit them ...all holes should be filled (except top winch bracket hole)if they read the instructions right ....They are the ones that make other dealers look bad....

Question how many bolts should there be on the inner side of the new mounts

There are five holes and only one bolt on this inner side mount the other side is the same. Is this correct for a non winch bar.

I finally put my car in for the third go at fixing the alignment problems that I have previously mentioned. All is good now and the alignment looks to be the same as before it went in.

In fairness to the dealer the head mechanic spoke to me and apologised profusely saying thaat he could not believe that it was allowed to go out of the workshop in its previous conditions.

All that has to be done now is to get the scratch fixed that they put in it when they first had it. That can be done in a fortnight (Hopefully).

                          Cheers

Looks like you took yours to the same southside dealer as me, I had to just about smack out the service manager to get my car fixed and had to write letters to the dealer principle and phoned toyota customer sevrice hotline. Finally got it all fixed but it leaves a bad taste in my mouth, my car has been permanently altered from factory standard, and the time and effort I had to waste to get these useless lazy incompetent idiots to fix it made my blood boil. The dealership should be named and shamed, everyone I have spoken to in my area who has been there has had bad experiences with them.

for those pp members and their friends with Outback Ideas recovery points..PLEASE check your mounting bolts for the recovery points AFTER the recall as the technician may have replaced it with the kit that came with the new bullbar mount which is shorter..it only holds a few turn..i noticed this cause i removed my OI recovery points prior to the recall and decided today to refit the recovery points and its a lot shorter than the supplied bolts for the kit..

it may be unsafe to use if the bolt is shorter than the supplied OI bolts..
