Does anyone have a problem with the driver's seat cushion? My '06 GXL seems to have collapsed in the seat and the right squab. I feel like I'm facing the right headlight when I'm in the seat and the right squab digs into my back ribs. Is this common? Is there a fix without replacing the seat?

Re: Driver seat issues
take it to a local auto upholstery they might be able to replace some of the foam and get it back to scratch, if not try auto wreckers for a replacement seat but will be a headache trying to find 1 that matches your trim. cheers samohad an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

Re: Driver seat issues
i had this happen on our rig.
the seat material was fine, but the foam had collapsed.
i ordered another foam section from toyota, and fitted it.
took me about 1 hour (but i have done it before many times),
but other can still do it, it just might take 2 hours.
not to hard of a job. just remove the seat from vehicle (4 bolts),
then remove plastic trims (phillips head screw driver) 3-4 screws,
lift upper seat material and undo the bolts for it to be completely removed,
then prize open the copper c-clips that hold the material down,
and you are down to the foam.
you could use strong cable ties to re-secure material to seat frame.
put it all back together and done

Re: Driver seat issues
Thanks guys. I did take it to a upholsterer and he charged me $100 to pad out the squab. It felt OK to start with then eventually just made it worse. I think this is a design fault. Thanks for the foam section idea. I'll contact them today. What did you pay? Did you get the seat section and the back section?

Re: Driver seat issues
Had mine done under warranty in 2005. Same again now and the foam just keeps dropping from under seat. Sounds like a major problem but no recalls or decent fix available. Love the vehicle but the name Toyota starting to stink a bit with their attitude to customers.John

I noticed my seat was the same and I’ve been looking at solutions as well, at present I’ve just stuck a piece of foam under the seat cover, temporary fix.
ive done a search and the Toyota part number is 71501-60200 and it can can be purchased thru amamaya.com for $170 plus shipping.
I’ll let you know when I’ve purchased the cushion and do a write up here.

If you happen to get some new ones, can you take some rough measurements like bolster height etc. I've got a set of seats out of mine that Im about to bin and might pull the cushions out of the front in case I need to replace the ones I have in the car.Originally posted by GX-D4D View Posti did look at this and the part numbers are different, but I also don’t really want to pull a good seat apart either.

Depending on where you are, if you want to pay for postage, I can send you over one of mine when I pull it out if you don't want to get a new one just yet?Originally posted by GX-D4D View Postno worries mate, when I purchase the drivers side I’ll let you know,
I'd have to check the condition of the foam
