Next was to cut the OEM rear bar to make up the rear quarters. I then added some pinch weld to the bottom edge:

A couple more photo's showing the UHF Aerial and Rear light:

I have to get some Ally tread plate to go on top of the middle section and I also have to wire up the rear aerial and light to finish it off.

Good job trekky, both on the build and the write up!

          Just a few questions.

          1. can you fit the OE towbar with your design?

          2. Do you have a link for the mob that supplied the carrier "kit"

          3. what do you reckon it weighs?

I have had it on my mind to do a rear bar for some time, might have to pull my finger out now I have seen how easy it is

          Cheers Andrew

            1. No, but doesn't worry me as I don't need a towbar but I could always fit an HR one if I feel the need.
            2. Here it is:

            http://rijidijoffroad.bounce.com.au/#

            3. I didn't weigh it so not sure - I did some calculations for the bar (without arms) I will have to dig those out and let you know.

Go for it mate, I'm sure you will do a better job than me.

A question for you - what thickness is the tread plate on your sliders?

Have been playing in the shed with 2 mates making rear bars for their Gu Patrols, taken for ever ,came up good, theirs incorporates air tanks in the main bar, but wish we had of known the company you mention as we have machined ,manufactured etc the parts that they supply, would of saved some time.
Was thinking of making one for mine only i need to incorporate a towbar, good to see how yours went ,maybe a spring shed project when it is a bit warmer in the shed at night.
                      Good work.
