In order to lift my deflated airbag back into position I wedged a couple of 1/2" sockets under it. The total length of these sockets was 54mm and with the airbag pin inside the socket, the airbag wasn't high enough to replace the top retaining plate. I then put the pin at the bottom of the airbag on top of the socket rather than inside it and the airbag was now in position and still with some freeplay.
Based on the fact that with the vehicle on bumpstop with a 54mm object plus the length of the pin under the airbag, there was still some freeplay at the top of the airbag, a 50mm spacer with the airbag pin inside should not be an issue.

I can't get the measurements, the top clip on the airbag is missing and the whole airbag assembly is loose when deflated.
