Lol, Tough Dog have got it wrong in their on-line catalogue, as you would expect the adjustables are more expensive than the foam cell. I have a hard copy here that I refer to and it has it the right way around. FC is Foam Cell and BM are the adjustable. I can email you the correct information if you like.

Wow i am confused lol I have just looked at it again and I am still seeing the same? For some reason the page I am looking at when i clicked on that link and also what i sore before. I am sure you are right all the other model FC is for the Foam Cell and the pricing shows FC more expensive then adjustable. It looks like they have the product descriptors around the wrong way. Weird I get that and you dont though. *confused* lol

Tough Dog sit lists 150 series rear adjustable shock as FC41111. Not as BM401111 that is the rear foam cell. According to Tough Dog?

The BM401111 is the 40mm bore 9 stage adjustable. The FC41111 is the 41mm bore foam cell (FC denotes Foam Cell).

Thanks for the reply Peter. i had spoken to a couple of shops and one shop will fit ome to the grande and seemed to have previously fitted them to another grande. I have had the response that they do not list them for the grande through another shop and thought that was strange. I thought the grande and gxl were the same and the only difference was the airbags so wouldn't it be the same kit minus the rear springs? or am i not understanding part of it. Thanks

I doubt they will suit airbags, they are designed for conventional steel springs.

Yes, the Tough Dog 150 series rear shock is actually an 80 series landcruiser rear shock and is definitely longer at 622mm extended compared to only 567mm for the Tough Dog 120 series rear shock. Although one of our members has physically measured the Tough Dog 120 series shock at 580mm extended, which makes more sense to me than Tough Dogs own specifications.

The Tough Dog 150 series adjustable rear shock part number is BM401111 http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...nsion-Database

As I said, it was originally designed for the 80 series Landcruiser. However, it is listed in the Tough Dog catalogue for the 150 series Prado and it will fit the 120 series Prado. I actually mentioned this shock to The Airbag Man a while back, suggesting that with an extended length of 622mm, it would be perfect for their airbags since they specify a maximum shock length in their installation instructions of 625mm.

For front struts, the Tough Dog adjustable would be best. Tough Dog list the same strut for the 120 and 150 series, which is a very good length strut for a 2" lift. Part number is BM404400.

The only reason that OME hasn't been popular on a Grande is because ARB don't do suspension lifts on the Grande. Their price list and catalogue specifically state "all models except Grande".

Hi i have been reading this thread and i am interested in lifting my prado but have noticed no one has used an ome set up on there grande. Is there a reason for this or do people generally prefer tough dog and bilsteins. Any opinions would be great as I'm pretty close to getting permission from the boss.

See my post #89 above. The top clip can dislodge if the airbag pops and is a real PITA to get back in. I haven't had a problem with it since I pinned the airbags, but it is a weakness if the airbags are over extended. Again, limiting the length of the rear shock will alleviate the problem, but long shocks need longer airbags.

The company making the spacers did not get them to us in time. I may add them at a later date.

Without the retaining pin my airbags would pop every time I flexed the rear, just like this:

Have you had any problem with the upper end, is the thin clip enough to keep the air spring at itīs place? If it fails, it will broke the air lines = much more problems.

Thanks for that. Well the Tough Dog set up is only about 40mm, so they say. With all the wait up front i will be happy if it settles at that really. Some members on the PP forum seem to have trouble to get their air bags to pop out, but there is the proof with your vehicle. Would hate for that to happen in the bush.

According to The Airbag Man, the standard compressor is fine for the extended airbags. A diff drop doesn't hurt, but is only needed if your front lift is more than 2 inches.
