    Re: Suspension Measurements 2

Just checked my ride height measurements again out of curiosity after almost 1 year of use. Recently added poly air bags to the rear but these measurements are with them deflated.

Original measures: Front 785mm, Rear 815mm
    Todays: Front 775mm, Rear 805mm

Hopefully they don't shrink anymore. KMK

I'll see what I can do. But it may not be straight away. I have some leave and I reckon driving it might be better than photographing it.

good to see she is still going with a few miles under her belt, as for the suspension might be time for a well due birthday, it must handle like a boat with original stuff under it.
had an 03 gx 120 with some gear now got a 2013 bt 50 GT auto some ARB gear.

                  Re: Suspension Measurements 2

OK just had ARB Deluxe Winch bar installed, with IPF driving lights, snorkel and OME with polyairs. Measurements are with tank near full and no weight in the back:

                  BEFORE:
                  Front (R) - 745 (L) - 740
                  Rear (R) - 765 (L) - 765

                  AFTER with 6psi in polyairs:
                  Front (R) - 787 (L) - 784
                  Rear (R) - 832 (L) - 832

OME setup is FRONT: OME884 and N201S with REAR: OME895 and N142. Polyairs to take the load when needed to boost the 895 towards the HD 896s....

Pretty happy with it today will see how it settles of the next month or so.....

                  Cheers

                    Re: Suspension Measurements 2

on monday i fitted raised OME 885 (101-150kg load - heaviest OME do for 120's) springs.
i had ironman deisel (heaviest they do for 120's) raised front springs.
                    my shocks/struts are billies (perfect).
i did this because i was not happy
with the sagged height with the ironmans in the front.
                    the rears are great.
so replaced front (745) and got 775mm DS and 785mm PS (bottom of rim to guard).

had a closer look and thought i could inprove down travel.
took them back out and replaced rubber bush under hat (strut top) with a 10mm thicker bush.
                    re-assembled and measured.
got an extra 10mm down travel, happy days..
whilst i had it out a took some measurements to make a spacer
to go between hat and chassis.

still not completely happy with 775mm, so i'm making a spring spacer/packer, to go between
                    spring top and hat.
12mm extra pre-load on spring should give me a bit more.
after doing this i gave the body a small lift off chassis (see 120 modifications section).

so more lift to come in the near future.
now the front tin toyota bash plate doesn't have to work overtime.

2008 Grande D4D - mine seems have been delivered with a higher rear than earlier model Grande's posted in this thread.

                      As new (no accessories):
                      Front 745
Rear 800 (on normal ride setting)

With Auto-Craft Ridepro/Bilsteins front & Bilsteins rear (factory air-bags remain)
                      Front 775
Rear 800 (on normal ride setting)

Accessories added to front at same time as suspension: ARB Bar, Winch, Dual Batts, XGTs.

Haven't measured with the low/high ride setting yet.

                        Re: Suspension Measurements 2

i have a 2008 GX D4-D 6 speed manual, with No accessories on it at all and the 3 row dickies are still in. it has 1500km on the clock.

                        front measures 750mm
                        rear measures 765mm

i will be putting in some OME soon. FYI, all front Prado coils have the same spring rate, only the free height of the coil changes. Prado coils are also used on the new hilux's for more lift over Hilux OME coils. i will post up what i plan to put on when the time comes. at this stage, I'm trying to find a replacement OME rear shock that will fit the Prado but has longer travel. ie, i put XJ jeep front shocks on the rear of my Suzuki vitara. still OME, but heaps longer travel. i'll post up my findings. also, OME are using a new steel for their coils which are better than the old steel they use. new steel is denoted by an 'X' before or after the part number on the coil box. OME also have another strut available, a N201S which is the super heavy duty ones for people with the lot up front. the other thing thats new with OME is that they are developing a series of new shocks and struts which will be the OME 'Sports' range.

                            Re: Suspension Measurements 2

                            Hey gents,
just had the Billstein platinum package installed on my GX V6,not carrying much weight,Sovereign alloy bar,Toyota towbar.
Measurements taken by ARB in workshop before and after match my own within 1 to 2mm.
                            BEFORE
                            FRONT PASSENGER: 745mm
                            FRONT DRIVER: 745mm
                            REAR PASSENGER: 790mm
                            REAR DRIVER: 795mm
                            AFTER 2''LIFT
                            FRONT PASSENGER: 818mm
                            FRONT DRIVER: 820mm
                            REAR PASSENGER: 845mm
                            REAR DRIVER: 850mm

Not much fuel onboard at time but still pretty impressive!
Changing from Highway tyres to Cooper STs AFTER above measurements were taken adds another half inch or so again!
Will have another look in a few months after suspension settles.
Just out of interest, took some before/after measurements from underside of sidesteps front and rear, with lift and tyres installed, gained 70mm front and 75mm at rear.
P.S. Forgot to mention the Polyairs at 6.5psi

yeah Darren, definately bottom circlip groove,I checked when i recieved them and after i just read your message I went out and checked to make sure they hadnt changed them before installing! measurements do suggest slightly more lift on front. Should front and back get the same amount of lift? Im only running alloy bar and 2 spotties on front,no weight in back. Very happy with amount of extra height but are these measurements unusual?
