Thanks Schaffer, if you can post some pics of your beast once installed and an opinion of the ride, that would be great, very nice price and may throw this as shops in Perth to match it up if possible.

    Cheers

I called into ARB Capalaba this week and mentioned to them what I was interested and this is what we came up with:-
      FRONT
      OME884/90000
      REAR
      OME896/60004
      OME661 Stone guard

I'm looking forward to this modification.

      Cheers,

Sure but from the sound of it JeffH will have his on sooner (lucky bugger).

The price I had was better than what I posted. I got this price through someone who used to run a 4wd shop and bought a LOT of ARB gear. I basically got trade price on parts plus a little, well at least that was what was explained to me. Labour charges did not change. These remained the same. If you can get that then great

Just to give you an idea on what I would have had if I went with the older gear:
        Code:
        884 Coil x2 $110 $220
        N201s x2 $167.50 $335
        896 Coil x2 $110 $220
        N202 x2 $110 $220
        Labour $350 $350
        OME661 $ 35 $ 35

        GRAND TOTAL $1380
                                  =====
Fitting for me does not start until the 27th:

        27th - Fitting of MT ATZ4
28th - 29th Fitting of ARB Winch Bar and OME Nitrocharger Sports
29th - I go home from work at Lunch time

I'll be fitting Spotties myself after this. Did plan to do this on the Wednesday night but I'm not sure I will be able to. We are also getting out on the weekend following. Heading over to Yorkes, around the Ardrossan area. I will be looking for a few spots of fun although they are few are far between over there. I think you can do some beach driving on the western side somewhere. Don't think we will get time for that but need to keep a look out for it.

Loaded the Prado up pretty good this weekend including the 3 kids and the fully loaded camper trailer... and the rear end of the Prado looked a bit sad. I made a point of showing the misses and saying how this really doesn't look good - especially as we are planning a big trip this mid-year with a camper trailer including the 2009 PP GTG.

Using the power of suggestion, our conversation went something like this:

"Might need to upgrade the suspension," I said before taking a long pause while I walked around kicking the tyres and examining the reduced ride height at the rear.

Mrs says, "Should it be this saggy? It looks pretty low". "Mmm, it's pretty low, but I'm not sure what do? Better suspension might help but I really didn't want to spend more money on the car", I said. Another pause for effect.

"Will new suspension help fix it?", she asks. "Yeah, stronger springs should give a little extra height and also help so it can carry a heavier load, like now, without sagging", I replied before continuing to look at the car. "Maybe we shouldn't worry about it... it should be okay for our trip", I said.

Longer pause as I continue to look over the car and trailer and examine the significantly lower rear end of the Prado with a concerned look on my face.

"Maybe we should upgrade the suspension, just in case", she says. Without any emotion I replied, "Yeah, I think you're right. Maybe we should. That's a good idea. How about I check it out this week". "Okay," she replies.

Well, I had the nitrocharger sport shocks/struts (and OME coils) fitted yesterday and my initial assessment of them is all positive that's for sure. I haven't had a chance to take it off-road yet so impressions of them are based on solely on my trip back across the Bells Line of Road yesterday arvo. Compared to the original suspension the difference is certainly noticable, and all positive, the body roll when taking a corner is now more or less gone, it stays flat and certainly gives you more confidence in cornering, and the front doesn't droop nearly as much under heavy braking. The ride is definitely firmer but certainly not back jarringly firm and yet the bumps are soaked up really well (of which there are now plenty of on that road  ).

Obviously the real test will come off-road for the shocks and anything I say can only be taken in comparison to the OEM suspension and not the older OME or Bilstein stuff, but so far I'm happy with it. As for lift, a quick measure reveals that I've gained about 30mm over original (40mm over original + bar) up front and 50mm at the back.

Great to hear that is now fitted Jeff. I'm so jealous as I have just under two weeks to wait. I'm pleased that you are happy and that you don't consider it too firm. I will be getting almost the same setup but with the firmer 896 spring in the rear. Cant wait.

From what I've read you will find it might settle a bit over the next month or so. Don't forget to post your new height in the Suspension Measurements 2 thread. Would be good if you can post your pre lift and post lift detail for info.

Me too. I plan to visit the local ARB outlet tomorrow to get a quote. I'll most likely be going for the 896 spring on the rear as well.

I was intending on fitting the car with OME suspension, but after even more research have decided on and booked the car in for King Springs and Bilstien Shocks.

 Get some other prices for things you need as well and get them while the purse strings are open. Only joking mate. You will be happy you made the decision. Good luck and don't forget to ask for a big discount based on the prices you have seen quoted on this site. I have pm you the price I got mine for.

                        Measurements added Schaffer.

As I said, while the ride is certainly firmer than the original suspension (as you would expect), it's not harsh at all, I think that if you have drawers or somesuch weight in the back of the Prado the 896s should be alright.

Some pics while it still looks shiny and new:

As an aside, I have requested data that compared the old and new products. I was told ARB have a 6 page report with graphs that compares them. That should arrive by snail-mail very soon.
