    Yes still necessary

Loving the simplicity of this method..

Is it vital I have a helper to do the install? or is it just a bit fidlier to do it on your own?

Also, once everything is torqued up under load, is a couple laps of the block enough before rechecking torques? And is 10-20kms enough to settle it in before an alignment?

        Cheers

I use a helper to pump the jack while guiding the top pin into the strut top. The top pin isn't always central going into the hole in the strut top. You may need some implement to (long screwdiver, thin piece of wood) to guide the pin in.

You can hit some bumps to have the suspension settle before going for an alignment. The springs may settle into the rubber a bit so give it a week for an alignment.

When I'm doing the driver's side, the jack handle is pointing to the passenger side headlight. This is because you want to roll the jack with the sideways movement of the LCA as it swings up.

Hi Guys, tried this and found two of the bottom LCA bolts are seized but still got the old springs and struts out ok.
But now when installing the new struts I cannot get the new springs (standard height Lovells) to compress enough to even come close to getting the nut on top of the struts. When jacking up the LCA the whole car is lifting off the stands?
                Any thoughts please?

If not it will be back to plan A, which was to remove the complete struts and take them to a mechanic to assemble the new springs/shocks.

                Thanks

Ensure the thread at the top of the strut is getting fed through the hole opening in the strut tophat.

Wow , thanks amts for such a prompt response

I can feel the top of the strut bolt through the top hat and wriggle the strut by levering it with a screwdriver so I don't think that's the cause, especially when it's lifting the car off the stand.

Are you changing the shocks as well? Or springs only? Any photos?
If you are changing shocks as well, make sure that the spring seat (if the removable type) are not installed upside down.

KYB shocks as well, but no removable spring seat.

Has anyone one done a airbag suspension conversion to coils and put in a lift kit? Am considering this on my 08 but don't know alot about suspension myself wondering what the best way to go. Have been looking as dobinsons atm

Plenty have done lifts on the Grande. Theres a heap of posts on it already explaining it. Avoid dobinsones. Well known to leak and blow hoses.

Gday, Was also wondering something similar. I'm wanting to upgrade the suspension on my 120 Grande but am unsure if coils with a 2" lift and then upgrading the airbags with a helper kit using the factory air pump and air lines will work. If anyone knows if this will work that will be awesome.

No it won't work because if the vehicle never reaches the set height, the airbag will get to such a high pressure and give a really stiff ride or explode. Helper airbags are not like bellows that expands in volume when more air goes in.
