I see on this thread that others have had the bushes change at 130k. Mine is at 150k which still seems low to have these flog out, but hey maybe that's reality with Toyotas.

    Hey again Geoff,

It's unlikely the lower arm bushes are flogged. They are the largest in the IFS, and even though my bush crush tubes had siezed on the cam tubes and I had a lot of corrosion in there, the bushes were still fine. If I could have got the cams out somehow without having to cut them, I would have kept on using my old lower bushes.

The cam tubes siezing is a very common thing, and can happen on Prados with low km's on them...water and dust getting in there.

However, the lower bushes actually failing, ie, tearing and becoming unbonded from the crush tube is not as common. It still happens, but nowhere near as much as siezed cams.

    Good luck getting it sorted!

Picked up the car today. They have fitted Pedder control arms. The ball joints on both the removed arms are fine so with a bush replacement they would become serviceable. So I took them with me.

A local Toyota dealer spare parts department and Pedders local store both told the service company that the bushes aren't available for the lower arms, only the upper arms. I visited my local Toyota spares and got prices for the lower bushes. The front are $112.60 [U]each[U] and the rear one $147.80. The complete control arm RHS is $1238.00 and the LHS one is $1264.00. Gotta love the way Toyota can screw you.....not.

The only other supply of lower arm bushes I've found is SuperPro, which on this forum get mixed reviews about the ride being harsh.

It's all been an expensive exercise.

        Hey Geoff,

Fixing up the lower arms is always an expensive part of fixing the IFS!

I used to have mixed opinions about all things urethane. I've driven a Prado that has every single bush replaced with urethane, and I can tell you I could not tell the difference between it and a Prado with all rubber bushes.

What was the cost of the Pedders arms relative to genuine Toyota arms?

          Hi Mark,

$634.54 for two plus fitting, so cheaper than OEM. Fitting 2 hours.

Whereas SuperPro kit $280 for both bushes, 4 hours to fit.

I, too, am about to go through this process with 225km on the clock.

Gonna try the Nolathane bushes for the Lower Control Arms and see how we go. Cost was $146 including delivery and is a kit to do both R and L sides.

I am dreading finding rusted and seized Cam Bolts...

Sway Bar Mounts looked cactus, so have SuperPro replacements on their way as well.

Does anyone know if the ball joints can be changed out on the Lower Control Arms, or are they just 'part of it'?

                  Hey,

Is that entire arms, or just bushes and cams?

                          Hey amts,

So x2 brand new genuine Toyota lower arms with bushes and ball joints from UAE for a total of $700.

...and if you buy them from Toyota parts here in Australia it is $2530 inc tax for x2 arms (120 series).

So somehow it costs $1830 more here in Australia?

                          Am I missing something here???

                            i haven't done any in the Toyota's as yet , but have done 2 x Pajero's
i ordered direct from them as we couldn't get anything here to fix my son's Pajero and they have lots of bushes in the rear of those things
we ended up doing the hold car front & rear for under $400

i have seen this brand on Amayama as a alternate part when they give you options

amts, is that for the 150 series? I think the designation for my 2010 GXL Prado is KDJ150R. And the price you stated, is that delivered?

I only looked at the 120 LCA parts as this thread is in the 120 section.

I'll have a look at the 150 later.
