      Glen,

AFAIK the valving is different/bilstein part numbers that shops use are different... The same goes for springs... Bushes are non bilstein ones as well... Will have to check re: warranty when Darren gets back from CSR... When I bought mine it was 2 years 60000km from memory....

So Darren is the best person to talk to.

Good stuff, will give him a call in the near future.
Its info like this that makes using this site and contributing to it
        a real pleasure.

Especially when i am looking at dropping 2 large on suspension and having to justify that cost to the missus as well...

        Thanks for your replies guys

hi, i'm wondering what is the "ATS" package consist of ?
            2 pair of Shock
            2 pair of Spring
            That's it ?
or is there any other part on the package ?

cause i still can't get it how can we "raise" the car without body lift

and i already e-mail ATS but have no respond from them

Bassically i own a store here , in my Country and i have Bilstein shock for Toyotta Fortuner that are identical to Prado's shock

I wondered wheter i can install this on my car , i just need about 2" lift .

can i achieve that without changging the springs ?

              Hi 10-Dee-Q

I think I can answer your question.
Just by changing the shock will not change the ride height of the vehicle.
You might need a longer shock so that when the suspension is raised the shock does not limit any travel. Either at full droop (extended) or at full compression.

You will need the springs changed to effect a change in ride height.

Either by using the same weight spring but just more winds (longer) in the spring to lift the ride height.
Or by using a stiffer/ heavier spring of the same length. (the car will not sit as low with stronger springs.)
Or a combination of a stronger spring and a longer spring.

Packages like the ATS setup tailor the shock and spring lengths to achieve any change in ride height you want. Either standard height or a raise in height.
for a car with no accessories/ luggage or with many accessories luggage, camping gear etc.

More accessories etc equals more weight.
Example: if you start with you car in standard form it will have the standard ride height.
Add a heap of luggage and accessories like twin batteries, steel bull bar, winch the car will sit lower.
Just by increasing the stiffnes of the spring but not the length could bring the car to the original ride height.
And also if by keeping the standard stiffness spring but making a longer spring could achieve the same ride height.

But increase both the stiffness and the length of the springs and you will raise the vehicles ride height.
Add to that "matched " shocks, you will end up with a better handling package. Designed for the weight and height of the vehicle you want.

In this kind of lift you are only raising the unsprung weight.
Your rear diff will not get any further from the ground. But your side steps and fuel tank etc will be further from the ground.

To raise the diff you will need larger tyres.

              I hope that helps.

              Jeff.

wow thanks that's very detail information :P

i'll try to change my shock to bilstein and still using the stock springs for the moment cause i only want about 2 cm lift.
if that's can't do it, i thin i'm gonna buy the spring then, thank you, you are really helpfull :P

You will need springs to lift a vehicle.. No ifs no buts.

ATS is on an extended trip at the moment and that may be why he hasnt replied.

After consideration of the numerous options out there and not wanting to outlay money on something I would regret down the track, I have taken the plunge and ordered the ATS Bilstein Premium Suspension Package.

Roughly double the price of the TJM XGS package but hopefully worth every cent. Did not include the Polyair bags at this stage. May do a retrofit down the track if I think necessary.

This has been my biggest modification decision so far, along with the biggest cost. Must say I am looking forward to my "new truck".

ATS have been great and have arranged Sydney installation for me through Heasmans Shock Absorbers. I will provide an update once it has been installed.

                    Cheers - Byrnsie

Good on ya Byrnsie! I hope the final result is all that you'd hoped it would be

Look forward to hearing how it all goes.

                              Byrnsie,

If its not too much to ask, what was the price you paid for the set up and did their arrangement include fitting by heasmans or did you just pay for the parts and they gave you heasmans number?

                                Byrnsie,

I have spoken with Darren as well, and will be booking mine into Heasmans within the next 2 weeks. I will be VERY interested to see how you go. Did you consider Polyairs as well? What lift did you decide on?.......
Wish Darren had someone on the Northside of Sydney.........a real pain getting there, and then trying to get home.
