    Hi All

I know there has been alot of discussions about lifts but not alot on standard height options. So here goes.
I want to upgrade my OE shocks with new ones. Leave springs standard as they provide nice ride and the vehicle hasnt sagged and we only two a 1 tonne boat. Milage is 150,000ish but only onroad driving with no loads apart from boat. It does wallow a bit when loaded so want to control this.

Options and prices so far are: all prices are fitted.
    KYB $1184
    Bilstein $1342
    Koni $1590
    TJM XGS 4000 $970
    Monroe $1143
    LOVELLS gas legend $875

So which has anyone used and recommend.
My gut says go Bilstein but the Lovells price seems really tempting based on price. Another idea says Monroe. So see my problem.
    Thanks in advance.

I use Koni with Raids and King 2" lift springs, with airbags in the back.

Ride is excellent on tarmac, handles corrigations etc really well, airbags allow
extra weight in the rear without need the need for heavy duty springs.

        Hi Gldfishing
I believe that upgrading your shockers and your springs would give you better handling, load carrying, off road clearance and ride quality while towing.
Springs are the cheaper units when it comes to a suspension upgrade and it is well worth matching springs and shockers as a whole system. Most manufactures also offer standard height packages.
Obviously there is a wealth of info out there that can be daunting to shift through and Pradopoint.com is a good place to begin.
Personally I use and recommend Old Man Emu by ARB

          Thanks for quick response guys.
I have been tossing up springs as well but she her owns car wants to do it in steps. Shocks then springs. can argue with the boss sometimes. I definitely will be getting shocks from one supplier not mixing brands. Going to add Ironman when I get a quote.
          thanks again

You do know the front is a coilover strut?....atleast shell out for new front coils while the strut is apart or you will be paying twice to have it done later

What Prado? 90-120-150? Lets assume 120.

Out of that lot, you can't go past MONROE.

As mentioned already, You should discuss doing coils at the same time. You are paying the labour anyway.
My prices for Monroe or Dobinsons with Dobinsons coils is $1350 fitted, so without coils you still a bit high IMO, but not too bad.
Monroe struts only I'd say $1k fitted, shop it around.
Don't worry about any more tough names from re 4x4 industry, don't confuse it too much, just stick with the great well know quality brands like MONROE.
They made those Arb ome you have that have lasted & worked so well.
Both Monroe & Dobinsons are making changes to make products even better.
Also it's both coils & shockers that are giving you a "nice" ride, if you put the wrong product in, you might not be happy.

                  ####, Just some help please.
Mechanic tells me that one of my shockies is leaking, not sure if front or back.
                  It is original .
Only use on blacktop and occasionally tow a van just over 2tonne.
Do I need to replace all round or just the set .
Live at ther Gold Coast and mr google turned up this local supplier http://www.performancesuspension.com...e5-a713-p.html

Would they be the type of shockie that would suit my 2007 D4D 120series?
                  Thanks

                    Hi,

                    I received p.m.
They should be replaced in pairs.
Shockers are wear n tear items that should be replaced periodically, experts like Monroe say every 80,000k.
                    So.......I'd be replacing the lot.
Again I wouldn't buy those, they are very exe.
                    Maybe some Dobinsons or Monroe.

D4Dforme has a very good point. If you're planning on doing the springs at some point anyway, you're ripping yourself off by doing them separately. Replacing the front shock is the exact same amount of work as replacing the front spring so you're paying twice for labour.

You're much better off saving up and buying the whole lot as a kit. You might also save a couple of dollars getting all the parts bundled together as well
