  • Bilstein BE5-A713

Anyone know if and where I could purchase 1 Bilstein BE5-A713 preferably online as I live in NZ and would need to ship it.
As it looks like I have a leaking rear.
    Thanks in advance

    Hi.

The 713 isn't a good shock. The travel is short and the valving is wrong. Better to replace it with a pair of better travel shocks.

      Doesnt sound good.

As for the shocks https://www.sparesbox.com.au ships to NZ and has the 713, but it might be best to do both and upgrade them as photoprado mentioned.

Okay team, i replaced the right rear 713 as it was leaking. Now my left rear is leaking.
so looking at purchasing a set of rear shocks for my 07 prado with standard height king springs in it.
Do I take a chance and buy another set of 713's or try something else?
Looking to buy them of the net because i live in rural nz.
Who has the best prices online?
          Thanks in advance

From what I recall, the 713 is not that different to the standard Toyota shocks, in relation to bump/rebound settings. Or travel length.

actually has less travel than a set of stock shocks.

I stand corrected. I believe that the long travel option below is the better choice.

Why stop there, Caloffroad make a longer travel option I believe or just put shocks for a 4 inch lifted 80 series on it if you want flex that badly. I was responding to the inquiry of bilsten shocks. The 713's are clearly not worth it as you're basically not really getting much more travel than stock. I've got a set of 897's on my 150 and I'm really happy with them. Not sure how the ironmans compare to Bilstein, quality wise I'd like to think the billys are better made although I have no proof of this aside from the reputations of the individual brands themselves.

I only mentioned about shocks we used on the rear of the 120. That included the 713's and the Ironman 45682FE

Wouldn't ever buy shocks from Caloffroad, and don't need 4 inch lifted.

If you read Whitey's information on PP about the Ironman shocks for the Prado, they are excellent. They are able to be revalved and Whitey did it for ours.

Yeah, did read extensively about whiteys shocks- Unfortunately I missed out on the revalved shocks for the 150. It's my understanding that most shocks can be revalved given the person doing it has the right tools, testing equipment, time and knowledge. Whitey from what I've heard and read has an extensive background in physics and engineering- exactly the type of person you'd want doing it. I did read the reviews on whiteys stuff and everyone who purchased them had nothing but praise for them- a testament to his skill no doubt at all. It's my understanding that he's not making them any more (although I'd be happy to be corrected if this isn't the case).

Whitey isn't doing them now on Pradopoint, but Zordo was spending time helping Whitey to get them sorted and delivered. If you're interested ring him and he will tell you if they are available and revalved for the Prado. http://www.zordos4wdsuspension.com.au/contact-details
