Is your mate telling you the whole story with the tyres.. JMO?? Original receipt??? Any big purchases these days I normally make on a credit card or bank card, who walks in with that amount of cash especially for rippoff expensive Coopers. For this exact reason I purchase using my bank card, I can go onto my internet banking and prove I purchased from said store. You don't need a receipt, you need to prove you purchased from said store, which a receipt normally does. Secondly most tyre stores, all I have been to in the last 5 years maybe even before then have taken my car/4WD's rego and ODO reading for rotation advice and warranty anyway.

As said, you either have had good experience with Coopers or you haven't. I wouldn't touch them, it was funny how some tyre dealers talked them up and warranties and guarantees when I was shopping for tyres for the Prado, then you mention 4WDriving in them and they start back pedalling.

Warranty only available in metropolitan areas - that's what they pulled on me. Once only and never again.

These tyre companies are crap on service sometimes......

I wonder if that one is because delamination like that can be caused by overheating the tyre, eg, running low pressure.....

Surely they should take into account most of us are not so silly to do 100k+ on 15-28psi.....?

My atz4ribs are 6 months old, got some unusual cracking, been waiting for the rep to come n see them for a month........ Not expecting much, another point I will have to push........

          Hiya,

Ive had 3 sets of Cooper ST's, had no probs, great tyres...now running ST Maxx on my 09 120, done 18000 klms so far, hardly any wear, a bit noisier than the ST's, but a stronger tyre, in my opinion the ST's were a bit more flexible off road, but vunerable in the side wall. got 65000 klms plus out of them...great tyres...

          Cheers,
          Steve J

Coopers do an extensive marketing campaign featuring 4x4 tour leaders and other 4x4 luminaries telling us of the superior benefits of Coopers. Suggest you contact any one of these and ask them if they are willing to sign a Statuary Declaration stating they receive no benefits from Coopers for promoting and advertising Cooper tyres. I have received acknowledged from one prominent tour guide promoting Coopers that while he gets a financial benefit from Coopers his experience is they are a good tyre. So there can be no mistake I do not claim that Coopers are good or bad I just think that any individual who is receiving a benefit should state that up front when telling the virtues of a product..

This is my 3rd set of Coopers, and I have never had a problem.

Had to replace the st maxx's today..Rear left had a nice slash in the side wall(possibly from wife running up gutters)Had a look at the others and 2 others were starting to separate around the lugs with some small slits. They did have 75000kms on them and would have got more kms..pity I couldn't get any more until Thursday. Was then looking at the dick cepek fc-II but same deal on delivery..ended up getting the bridgestone d697 for $290 each

2 x tread separation on 2 different times, the last time it happened got into Tennant Creek, the tyre mob there didn't want my other coopers for their own rigs when I changed them all out, have a look out the back they said, had a look and most were coopers with tread separation, never use coopers again.

                  Cheers Derek

I have BFG AT at the moment and am about to go to Cooper ST Maxx. I have heard so many bad reports about Coopers with tread separation, but I am hoping that the newer ST Maxx would be better.

had my st maxx on now for 30k, good all round tyre, good in the sand, good on the road wet or dry and great in the gravel or mud, i had a set of st before the maxx and i got 73k out of them but they did suffer from a little chipping but ya get that, other then that very happy camper, in newcastle they are $423 per corner and in sydney i have had prices as cheap as $360 and they are genuine coopers food for thought. cheers samo

I can't believe anyone would even entertain the thought of putting coopers on after their hideous reputation . Even if it was a new design . There are so many better and vastly cheaper tyres out there .

                              Hi All,

I've heard a lot of bad comments re-Cooper tyres, but I've had 3 sets of the old STs & now have the ST Maxx's. The 1st set of ST's did suffer a bit of chipping when I was on tough tracks in the Vic High Country, 2nd & 3rd sets no probs, & got 65k+ out of them! So far 25k on the ST Maxx's & going Great. Would buy again no probs.

I've had 3 sets of Cooper STs , done over 160,000 Kim's in total, and have never had a puncture! Agreed the previous STs were a little slippery when they wore down a bit, but the new ST Maxx tyres have been brilliant (and no I don't get endorsements from Cooper!!!).

At the end of the day I'm sure they all have their pros and cons - I can't comment on other brands as I've never used anything but Coopers.
